Plumpton Abandoned

Today the racing action comes from Ayr which concludes the jumps action in Britain as Plumpton was abandoned this morning. The all-weather action comes from Wolverhampton and the jumping in Ireland, comes from Punchestown who has rescheduled their meeting from last week. 

It was a busy weekend with runners all over. Chemical Warfare made the trip up to Newcastle and he ran well in the Eider to finish 7th, his jumping wasn't quite foot perfect, maybe nicer ground and back in trip will suit him next time. Gold In The Rivers pulled up at Chepstow, he has qualified for the pertemps final regardless, but the ground probably went a little against him on this occasion.

At Kempton, Deeper Blue ran a brilliant race in the Ladbrokes Trophy to finish 5th and he would've finished closer I think if he hadn't made a mistake 2 out, it was a lovely debut for the stable and plenty of more good days out to be had with him. On Sunday, Jaipaletemps ran a much more encouraging race to finish third and it was a big step in the right direction, while at Fontwell, Punta Del Este looked to not get into a rhythm with his jumping throughout and the ground looked to be hard work all day so I'm sure that didn't play to his strength either. 

On the flat at Wolverhampton flat jockey Luke Morris is looking to bid his 500th course winner, which is a magnificent milestone and he has three rides booked for the evening card with his best chance looking to come from last time out winner, Backer Bilk in the 8:00pm. 

There was plenty of sporting action elsewhere with the rugby taking a lot of interest in the Six Nations. Wales were in defeat of their game, but I thought actually played much better than usual but it was Ireland who came out on top 18-27. It was a better game for England as in the closing minutes of the match managed to draw back the lead from Scotland finishing on 16-15. The Italy and France game was a very interesting match, but France were no doubt the better team on the day and that showed in their outstanding result of 24-73.
