Neon Moon runs Uttoxeter Today
Today marks the start of a new national hunt season, with the jumps racing picking back up at Uttoxeter and Hexham. It is a busy day on the flat front with action coming from Newmarket, Goodwood, Thirsk and Doncaster with no all-weather meetings. Today is the last day of the Punchestown action in Ireland.
We are back racing with three runners at Uttoxeter all with Jack Tudor riding. Missy Mole starts us off and runs in the 5:20pm Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 7f she showed great improvement and a super likeable attitude on her last start; the ground here today should suit her much better.
Neon Moon returns to action in the 5:55pm Staffordshire Plate Handicap Chase over 3miles he has had a little time to freshen up from his last run, which he does always appreciate and the conditions should suit here today, he deserves to take his chance.
To finish the evening, we have Punta Del Este in the 6:30pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f a fairly new recruit for Pond House so we are still learning about him a little bit, but the ground ended up being really hard work on his first start for us. Providing he can cope with the quicker ground, he should improve here today.
It was a winning result for the Irish for the Irish Champion Hurdle and a shame to not get the showdown everyone was expecting with Constitution Hill. State Man deservedly put up a fine front running performance and an excellent effort from Golden Ace to finish second. Constitution Hill was clearly below par from early stages and fingers crossed we can see him back to his best soon.
Today marks the first of five Classics in Britain with the 2,000 Guineas taking place at Newmarket this afternoon. The race has so far eluded the John and Thady Gosden stable, but they have the leading contender this season in Craven winner Field Of Gold.
The Premier League action continues from 12:30pmwith Aston Villa vs. Fulham, Everton vs. Ipswich and Leicester vs. Southampton both showing at 3:00pmand the later game coming from Arsenal vs. Bournemouth at 5:30pm.
