The stable has runners at Newbury, Taunton and Uttoxeter this afternoon and the yard will be very busy sending boxes to the three different venues. It does take some organising with all the horses needing to be fed and weighed before leaving the yard. I am sure that all eyes will be on stable star Grands Crus as he makes his second start over fences at Newbury. Tom Scudamore rides our flying grey, while Piraya and Quocotiep complete our raiding party to the Berkshire track. Teshali, Arab League, Mr Chow and Ladyvie participate at our local track, Taunton, while we send Rose Of The Moon to Coventry (or should I say Uttoxeter?!) on his debut for us...it's a busy day!

Jake Greenall (pictured right), who partners Rose Of The Moon was down earlier in the week to school our six year old son of Moonax. The young jockey already knows the horse having ridden him on his last three starts and they jumped well during exercise, as you would expect. Let's hope they can make a winning start on his debut for the yard. By the way, is it just me, or are the jockeys looking younger and younger these days?!
Despite finishing second, I thought that Battle Group made a very promising start to his chasing career at Wetherby yesterday. Our six year old must have traded very short on the exchanges in running as he looked the likeliest winner approaching two out, but he was unable to get past well backed favourite Fists Of Glory, who kept pulling out more under A P McCoy. Battle Group jumped brilliantly and he looks like a winner waiting to happen.

On the football front, If I were on the Arsenal board of directors, I think I would be pushing to get Van Persie to sign an improved contract as soon as possible. The Dutchman has been on fire this season and come January I am sure that some of the big money clubs will be sniffing around...33 goals in 30 games is a record that speaks for itself!
