Eclipse Day

There is no jumps racing today in Britain, but plenty of flat action throughout the afternoon and evening to keep you busy! The flat cards come from Sandown, Haydock, Beverley, Carlisle, Nottingham and Leicester. You can get some jumping action over in Ireland as they are racing over both codes with jumping at Bellewstown and flat action at Naas. No runners for the stable today.

Yesterday afternoon we were at Newton Abbot with Old Bridge. He settled ok throughout the race and made a slight mistake 3 out which stopped his momentum. He is showing more progress with his settling throughout his races and I’m sure he’ll bounce to form soon.

Over at Sandown, it is Coral Eclipse day and the impressive Prince of Wales’s winner Ombudsman takes his chance in the Group 1 for trainers John and Thady Gosden. Aidan O’Brien has landed the feature in three of the last four years and runs the top-class likes of Camille Pissarro and Delacroix.

The card at Carlisle is an exciting one as they stage its all-female race day.

In the tennis, Cameron Norrie remains the last Briton standing in the men's singles draw at Wimbledon as he progressed to the fourth round with a straight-set win over Italian Matteo Bellucci.
