Sporting Thursday

It is another quiet day for the jumps as its flat cards only again today. The action comes from Newmarket, Doncaster and Carlisle alongside evening cards from Newbury and Epsom. In Ireland, there is a flat card coming from Leopardstown, which involves Group 3 action. No runners for the stable today.

Yesterday evening we were at Kempton on the all-weather with Ocean Heights.  Unfortunately for us, in the first time visor he did too much too soon early in the race and ultimately paying the price at the end.

The Debenhams July Festival begins at Newmarket and Ghostwriter for the Clive Cox stable, is the early favourite for the Group 2 Princess of Wales’s Stakes and takes place at 3:35pm. Palladium who undertook a stable switch from Nicky Henderson’s to the Gosdens quite recently, finished a place behind him in the Hardwicke Stakes and could bid to try and reverse the Royal Ascot form.

Looking away from the racing to the football, England were playing in the Women’s Euros last night and were impressive 4-0 winners.  It is women’s semi-final day at Wimbledon today, the first day of the Third Cricket Test between England and India and the Scottish Open golf gets underway.  Lots of sporting action to keep us entertained and some nice warm sunshine to accompany our viewing.

When I grow up, I’d like to be a retired lottery winner!
