It is another busy day of racing and sporting action throughout the country.  There is no jumping in Britain today but there six flat meetings at Newmarket, York, Ascot, Chester, Salisbury and Hamilton.  In Ireland they race at Dundalk and Limerick, both of these are flat fixtures.  The big race of the day again comes from Newmarket with the July Cup, Group 1 stakes over 6F at 4.35pm.  The Godolphin, Charlie Appleby, William Buick team are in red hot form at the moment and won the feature race on yesterday's cards and have the favourite, Notable Speech in this.  He is a high class miler and everyone says he looks worth a drop back in trip to the 6F.  It looks an open betting racing to me and after my selection didn't run very well yesterday, I think I will keep my thoughts to myself!.

Away from the racing, it is the ladies singles tennis final at Wimbledon this afternoon.  Both the men's and ladies finals start times have been altered this year and will be played at 4pm, to increase worldwide viewing figures.  Things looked pretty hot on centre court for the men's semi-finals yesterday but the players looked cooler than the people in the crowd.  There were a few pauses in play as a few members of the public were needing assistance.  There was a brilliant first match between Alcaraz and Fritz with the Spaniard coming out on top in four sets.  Jannick Sinner dominated Novak Djokovic and it was a little sad to see this multiple champion go our in three straight sets in the other sem-final.  I don't know much about the two ladies players contesting today's final but it should be a good match between American Amanda Anisimova, seeded 13 and Iga Swiatek who is the number 8 seed.

The England cricketers made 387 in their first innings against India at Lords and in reply the visitors are 145 for 3.  Everything looks set for a good day of cricket ahead.  Somerset beat Kent last night away in the Vitality Blast thus ensuring they have secured a home semi-final already with three matches to go still in qualifying.

American golfer Chris Gottercup leads the field at the Scottish Open on -11 but there are lots of players in contention at the half way stage including Rory McIlroy on -7 and World number one Scottie Scheffler on -5.

For his birthday, I took my husband to an orchard and we stood there looking at the trees for half an hour.

Not the apple watch he was expecting apparently!

Have a good day!
