There are four flat meetings today and that includes the first day of the Brighton three-day festival. There is also racing at Pontefract, Kempton and Yarmouth. In Ireland they have a flat meeting at Sligo and a jumps card at Wexford. The stable does not have any runners.
This season's Irish 2000 Guineas winner, Field of Gold will not be running in the Juddmonte International Group 1 at York later this month it was announced yesterday. The leading mile was disappointing at Goodwood last week but was found to be lame the morning after the race. The Gosden team reported he was improving but he would have further x-rays this week and hope he will resume training all being well after this but the race at York will come too soon. Ombudsman and Delacroix are two of the leading candidates who will be heading to York but Fields of gold will not be joining then but he does have entries at Leopardstown in September and Ascot in October which are more likely.
There were early closing entries for the Doncaster St Leger yesterday and Aidan O'Brien's Derby and Oaks winners, Lambourn and Minnie Hauk join anti-post favourite Scandinavia as part of an eleven strong Balydoyle team which make up 26 of the total entries. Last week's Goodwood winner, Whirl also has an entry for race and it will be fascinating to see which ones of the team will be lining up on September 13th for this race.
Last night I watch a bit of the first match of the cricket Hundred series which got underway at Lords between the London Spirit and the Oval Invincibles. It was a low scoring game in which the Invincibles were comfortable winners but the most exciting bit was when a fox entered the field of play mid match! It was quite a fascinating watch, this fox doing laps of the pitch looking for a way out. Former England cricket captain Eoin Morgan was commentating and I thought he did a good job, he likes his racing and got a few links to Ascot and Cheltenham into this bit! I did wonder what was going to happen to the fox but eventually he found his own way out! The Manchester Originals play the Southern Brave in todays matches.
Learning English can be difficult.
It can be taught through tough, thorough thought, though.
Have a great Wednesday!
