Bashful boy ran well enough at Musselburgh yesterday to be third but we obviously hoped for a little better!! He travelled into the race strongly and was going best passing the 2 furlong pole but when he was asked for his effort he kept going but two of his rivals quickened past him inside the final furlong. Elizabeth Gale on board didn’t do anything wrong but in hindsight if she had asked ‘Bash’ for his effort a little sooner it might have been a better result, but that is racing!! He is fine this morning and will travel home today and we will look for another staying race for him on the flat.
It is flat racing all the way today, with four fixtures at Southwell, Chelmsford, Ffos Las and Newbury. In Ireland there is one flat card at Navan. The stable does not have any runners.
I read there are crunch talks in Ireland today with Horse Racing Ireland proposing to take over Thurles racecourse so that the remainder of its fixtures can take place this year. The shock announcement of its closure came earlier this month from the Molony family that it would be closing with immediate effect. It is believed the HRI have put together a proposal in which they would take over the running of the course on a short time basis. Fingers crossed they can come to some sort of agreement today.
The Southern Brave play the Welsh Fire in the cricket hundred competition this evening while Somerset are in One Day Cup knock out action against Gloucestershire at home at 11am.
In America we of course have the US Open tennis taking place and Brit Emma Radacanu is through to the third round. Fellow Brits Jack Draper and Jacob Fearnly are also still in and doing well. Carlos Alcaraz will be in action play today.
My doctor said my sugar was too high.
When I got home I moved it to a lower shelf, it’s much more accessible now!
Have a good day!!
