It is a busy day on the racing front with five flat meetings and a jumps card at Newton Abbot.  The stable does not have any runners but Jack Tudor is in action today down to Newton Abbot.  The flat action comes from Sandown, Chester, Beverley, Chelmsford and Lingfield.  In Ireland, they have a flat fixture at the Curragh.

The feature races of the day at Sandown are two Group races, the Atalanta Stakes for fillies and mares at 2.25pm over 1 mile and the Solario Stakes at 3.35pm of 7F.  Cathedral is the favourite for the Atalanta Stakes for the Amo Racing team, jockey David Egan and trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy but it looks quite an open race and my pick is Blue Bolt for Andrew Balding who will be ridden by Colin Keane.  Pacific Avenue is the favourite for the Solario Stakes for Godolphin, Charlie Appleby and William Buick.  He has won his only start to date and literally could be anything.  Ryan Moore is in Ireland riding at the Curragh today so he could be worth following on his rides over there today.

Yesterday, we had two teams play in the Injured Jockeys Fund, Tom O’Brien golf day at Mendip Springs.  David, myself, Gerry Supple and Ken Rixon were one team but we were soundly beaten by our other team which included Jack Pipe, Pete Green, Tim & Steve.  I would have thought their team were pushing for the top places while our team might have won the wooden spoon!  I am being a little vague, not intentionally but they did not give out the full results.  The winning team was A P McCoy, Tom O’Brien and Johnno Spence and everyone else was a close second apparently!  The day was not about the golf however, it was about raising money for Tom who is battling a serious illness at the moment.  The day raised £23,000 and everyone had an enjoyable day.  It was very well supported and there were lots of familiar faces playing.  Well done to Jack Tudor who won a couple of individual prizes, including a putting competition for which he won himself a new putter.

There are plenty of Premiership football matches today with the early kick off being Chelsea against Fulham at 12.30pm.  Leeds versus Newcastle is the tea-time kick off at 5.30pm.

This evening, we have the first cricket eliminator match in the Hundred competition after the first part of the round robin section concluded.  The Trent Rockets play the Northern Superchargers at 6pm for a spot in the final.

There are now no British tennis players left in the US Open as Cameron Norrie lost to Novak Djokovic and Emma Radacanu and Jack Fearnley both also lost their matches. Carlos Alcaraz won easily again while Jannik Sinner plays today.

The England womens rugby team are back in action today against Samoa at 5pm as are Wales and Scotland a little earlier in the day.  Wales have to come out fighting to keep their World Cup ambitions alive after losing to Scotland last weekend.

Last year I joined a support group for antisocial people.

We haven’t met yet.

Have a great day!
