Today in Britain we just have on race meeting under each code, a flat card at Brighton and jumping from Worcester. In Ireland, they have a flat card at Tipperary while in France there is high class flat action at Longchamp. The stable does not have any runners.
There was an article in the Racing Post that revealed that Pat Millman will be taking over his father's trainers licence when Rod ticks off a career landmark of 1000 winners. Gerry Supple's wife Jo, ride's out for the Millman team and they do very well with their horses on the flat. Pat has ridden a lot of winners as an amateur and I know he is heavily involved in the running of the yard already. In his younger days, he spent time with Aidan O'Brien and Andrew Balding to gain experience but confesses he didn't learn as much as he probably should have back then! Read more in today's Racing Post!
This year's 2,000 Guineas winner, Ruling Court has sadly had to be put down following complications arising from laminitis it was revealed on Friday. The colt beat Fields of Gold at Newmarket in May before finishing third in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. He cost 2.3 million Euros at the Arqana Breeze Up sales last year and he was an eye-catching winner at Sandown a month later on racecourse debut. He began his three year old career with a win in Meydan and it is sad for the Charlie Appleby team to have lost such a high class horse. I am no vet expert but I would say it is quite uncommon for racehorses to get laminitis - it is very common in ponies who eat too much! Laminities affects tissue in a horses hoof, the tissue acts like velcro to form a strong bond to support the pedal bone within the hoof. Laminitis stretches and weakens the laminae which can cause the pedal bone to move within the hoof and in extreme cases it can rotate and/or drop through the sole of he hoof for which no treatment is available.

Tonight, we have the final of the Cricket Hundred competition at Lords at 6pm. The Oval Invincibles are defending champions and automatically qualified for this after finishing top of the table in the group stage. Their opponents battled it out in the semi-final last night to get their spot.
There is plenty more Women's World Cup rugby action today and Ireland are in action first against Spain at 12 noon, a match you expect them to win. New Zealand against Japan is at 2pm, Italy play South Africa at 3.30pm and France play Brazil at 4.45pm.
At 20: I worried about what everyone thought of me.
At 40: I stopped caring what everyone thought of me.
At 50+: I realised...nobody was thinking about me in the first place!
Happy Sunday!
