We have another day of jumps action up at Perth this afternoon following some good racing there yesterday.  Sean Bowen rode a double but Gordon Elliott was not on the score sheet, today they combine forces and I would be surprised if they did not have two winners, but definitely one together!  In Ireland, there is another day of jumping on day five of the Listowel Festival and it is another card filled with big fields and competitive races.  Willie Mullins won the Kerry National yesterday, not with the favourite who fell but Spanish Harlem claimed he honours under Danny Mullins.  There are three flat meetings today in Britain at Newmarket, Pontefract and Newcastle.

There is an interesting runner on the Newmarket card as Palladium lines up in the 4.10pm listed staying race over two miles for the John and Thady Gosden team and is partnered by Billy Loughnane.  This horse is interesting as he was bought to be a Triumph hurdle winner for the Nicky Henderson team last year for big money after winning the German Derby, 1.4 million Euros to be precise!  He duly won on hurdling debut for the Seven Barrows team at Huntingdon in January but then problems behind the scenes meant he did not run again over jumps and was subsequently moved to the Gosden team to resume his flat career.  Initially disappointing for them as well, he was gelded and returned to winning ways at Salisbury last time.  That was over 1m4f and he steps up in distance today but his team know what they are doing and it will be interesting to see how he gets on, he is the favourite but it is a competitive little race.  

Last night in the football there were wins, as expected for all four Premiership teams in League Cup action.  Manchester City, Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal were all comfortable winners and are through to the next round.  Tonight, there is Europa Cup action and Aston Villa are in action at home to Bologna at 8pm. 

Laster today, the Ryder Cup golf pairings will be announced ahead of the first day at Bethpage, just outside New York which begins on Friday.  I think they will be revealed at 4pm British time.  I can't wait!
