There are three flat meetings today at Newcastle, Epsom and Ffos Las, no jumping and the stable does not have any runners.  In Ireland, there is a good card at the Curragh, with Group race action and the Irish Cesarewitch also taking place.

There is some fantastic prize money on offer for the Irish Cesarewitch and there is a fiercely competitive maximum field which is a wide open betting heat.  Joseph O’Brien and Willi Mullins have particularly strong hands but it is the Donnacha O’Brien trained Happy Pharoah that just shades favouritism. 

I was reading about the injuries suffered by former champion flat jockey Jim Crowley earlier this week which were horrific.  The 47 year old sustained two broken bones in his leg, and two fractures in his pelvis when his horse came down in a race at York on 7^th September.  He has only just returned home following a lengthy spell in hospital after surgery.  He did of course used to ride as a jumps jockeys as well but says this is by far the worst injury he has had in his career.  He said it has been a tough time but he had lots of visitors in hospital, including flat and jump jockeys.  He currently is not allowed to weight bear and so has to take things very easy but he is already eyeing physio at Oaksey House around Christmas time and will be back in the saddle in 2026. 

There are just the two Premiership football matches today, Aston Villa play Fulham at 2pm while Newcastle are at home to Arsenal at 4.30pm. 

The Ryder Cup Golf has reached its final day and there are 12 points up for grabs in the single matches, play gets underway just after 5pm this evening British time. 

Exeter Chiefs are in Premiership rugby action this afternoon, they are away to Northampton Saints at 1pm while the Bristol Bears play the Leicester Tigers at 3.30pm.
