Best Night ran a good race to be third at Newton Abbot yesterday under Jack Tudor.  She travelled and jumped well once again and held every chance as the field turned for home but the front two just quickened away from her on this occasion.  The ground was probably quick enough for her with no recent rain but Jack was happy with her run and he says she will be winning plenty more races.  She has eaten up overnight and is fine this morning which is the main thing and we can run her again once we have some rain.

Today there is a jumps meeting at Sedgefield but the stable does not have any runners.  There are three meetings on the flat at Bath, Ayr and Newcastle and in Ireland they have a flat card at Cork.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Lough Derg over the weekend at the age of 25.  What a horse he was for us all and you can read our tribute to him on David's Blog from yesterday.  He was a fantastic racehorse with a never say die attitude and I have some very fond personal memories of him.  Myself and Leanne even did a local fun ride together while he was in training, she rode 'Douglas' and I rode one of my parents horses and we had lovely day out.  He really was a character and it is worth watching the little video clip of him at the bottom of David's Blog with some of his best races, it made me quite emotional as you tend to forget how good he was and I am still not sure how he won some of those races!

The countdown is well and truly on for the Arc meeting at Longchamp this weekend.  I was lucky enough to be there the year Dylan Thomas won and it was a fantastic weekend.  I aim to go back and recommend it to anyone who likes racing.  The big race itself is on Sunday and there are 17 horses left in the race after a forfeit stage yesterday, including most of the fancied horses.  Minnie Hauk could still be supplemented by the Ballydoyle team but that will not happen until Wednesday if it does.  Oisin Murphy is booked to ride Japanese horse Byzantine Dream while Andrea Atzeni will also be back in Europe to ride Giavellotto.  The ground has dried out a little to soft but there could be a bi of rain before the weekend.

Last night, Everton and West Ham drew 1-1 in the Premiership while tonight attentions turn to the Champions League.  Chelsea are at home to Benfica at 8pm, Spurs are away to Bodo/Glimt while Liverpool have a tough match away to Galatasary.

The day before yesterday I was 21, and next year I will be 24.  When is my birthday?

Yesterday's Answer: Neither - they both way a ton. (Which is heavier, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers?)

Have a good day!
