There is just one jumps meeting today, that is at Plumpton this afternoon and the stable does not have any runners. There are three meetings on the flat at Pontefract, Bath and Wolverhampton and in Ireland they have one flat meeting at Goran Park.

On Saturday, Lock Out had a nasty incident coming down on the bend before turning for home in his race at Newton Abbot. He seemed to clip heels as a rival edged out in his path and it was a nasty fall for both horse and jockey. Both got up on their feet and while Lock Out is stiff and sore he seems okay and has not left a nut since! Rian Corcoran is also battered and bruised, he did go to Torbay hospital to be checked over and while having a few stitches in a cut his scans thankfully came back all clear.

There were some shock results on Champions Day at Ascot, while they were a good wins for short prices favourite Trawlerman as well as the high class duo of Kalpana and Calandagan, there were also some shock, big price winners as well. There was a 200/1 winner and 100/1 winner, I just wish I had a pound on them! As they say in racing, you have to be in it to win it!

It was an amazing night for trainer Gordon Elliott over in the US on Saturday evening, he won all five races at Far Hills including the American Grand National, which was won by Zanahyir with a great ride from Jack Kennedy. It is mad to think that all the jockeys were back riding at Limerick yesterday.

I felt very sorry for Exeter racecourse who were likely to lose yet another meeting scheduled tomorrow, due to firm going, however racing goes ahead! There was due to be a 9am inspection today with going report on Sunday saying the track was currently unraceable but they were hoping rain yesterday would give them a slim chance. Well we did have rain in the west country and it was a bit of a miserable day and while I thought it would not have been enough, it has been!  18mm of rain fell at the track with a bit more forecast for today so they will get their season underway.

This afternoon Leanne, Jack and myself are heading up to Doncaster ahead of the sales tomorrow. The sale includes a dispersal of some horses owned by Roger Brookhouse with some nice ones amongst them, it will be good to take a look at them and maybe see if we can buy one! If anyone has any interest in finding out more about the sale, please do get in touch with the office, we would love to hear from you.

This week, funnily enough I want to talk about football! There was a good 2-1 win for Manchester United against Liverpool at Anfield yesterday. It has been a tough time for my team but hopefully this win can be a turning point. There was also a 2-1 win for Aston Villa away at Spurs yesterday, while on Saturday Arsenal won 1-0 away at Fulham and are now on top of the Premiership table. There is one game this evening, West Ham are at home to Brentford at 8pm.

There was a good win yesterday for the England women’s cricket team who beat India in a close game which books their place in the semi-final of the women’s World Cup competition.

Tommy Fleetwood won for the eighth time on the DP world tour, winning in Delhi, what a few weeks he has had.

Did you hear about the two people who stole a calendar?

They each got six months!

Have a great Monday!
