There are two jumps meetings today at Hereford and Plumpton and we have one runner at the former, Old Bridge. He runs in the opening race on the card at 1.20pm, a handicap hurdle over 2m3f for conditional and amateur jockeys and Rian Corcoran rides.
This is Rian’s first ride back since he suffered concussion at Newton Abbot so fingers crossed it can be a good one. Rian rode our four year old last time out where he ran well and finished sixth in a big field competitive handicap at Chepstow.  This race is easier and he has dropped a few more pounds which will help. The track and ground will be fine and I hope he won’t be too far away.

There are three flat meetings today at Kempton, Wolverhampton and Southwell and there is no racing in Ireland.

Neon Moon ran well to be fifth in his race at Ascot on Saturday. He travelled well, perhaps a little too keen early on in his seasonal reappearance but held every chance jumping two out but just flattened out after this. He is fine after the run and with a little help from the handicapper there will be easier opportunities for him.

Last night I was at Newbury racecourse to watch Racing Welfare’s charity strictly come dancing. It was a wonderful evening hosted by Mike Cattermole and congratulations to the eight couples who took part, but especially to Winners Tom and Sara Malone who took home the glitter ball trophy. All the couples put in hours of practice and put on a fantastic show and also raised a phenomenal amount of money in the process.

There was plenty of good sporting action over the weekend and as we start the new week, there is one Premiership football match this week evening, Sunderland play Everton at 8pm.

My neighbour introduced me to her cats, “that’s Astrophe, Erpillar, Arachne and Alogue”.

“Where an earth did you get such unusual names I asked?”

“Oh, those are their last names, their first names are Cat”!

Have a fab Monday!
