Chemical Warfare runs at Lingfield Today

Today we have one runner at Lingfield, Chemical Warfare ridden by Jack Tudor.  He runs in the 2.45pm handicap chase over 2m6f and this is his first run back from a break.  He had a terrific campaign last season winning eight times and was a real credit to the yard.  His form tailed off a little bit towards the end but that was due to a combination of his high handicap mark and it was time for a holiday.  The handicapper has relented a little and he returns to action showing great zest at home and so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.  Life will still be tougher as he races from a mark of 116 which is still plenty high enough in the weights having gone up a total of 40 pounds last season and his last winning mark was 115.  He is a good each way price this afternoon and it will be good to see him back on the track.

Lingfield is one of two jumps meetings today, with the other being up at Kelso.  There is one flat card at Newcastle and in Ireland they have a jumps meeting at Limerick.

It was a good day of racing action yesterday with Lulamba impressive on chasing debut at Exeter.  At Navan, there was a bit of a surprise with The Yellow Clay and Dinoblue both being beaten at Navan but Kopek Des Bordes made no mistakes and was very impressive on winning his chasing debut.   There was then a lot of talk about Arkle betting after these races but it is way to early for me!

There is a gallops morning at Newbury racecourse today and there will be a whole host of equine stars in attendance.  30 horses including Constitution Hill will be having a spin round and let's hope it goes better for that team than it did last year.  He was passed at the head of the champion hurdle market after failing to work very well against stablemate Sir Gino and there were rumours of him being retired which were quickly quashed by Nicky Henderson.

There are currently sales on in Deauville at Arqana and there were some big prices paid for some of the lots, notably two from the Munir Souede dispersal which were sold for 1.23 million Euros and they will be heading to England and be trained by Dan Skelton.  Mets Ta Ceinture was sold for 710,000 Euros and topped the sale while the Merci Mam was bought for 550,000 guineas.  I am sure they are two very nice horses but that is an incredible days shopping!  There was plenty of other lots reaching six figures including a horse called Columbus who his heading to Willie Mullins having been bought for 400,000 Euros!

Northern Ireland won their World Cup qualifying matches last night against Luxemburg 1-0 and have qualified for the play offs.  Tonight it is the turn of Scotland and Wales who both play at 7.45pm at home, with the Danes at Hampden Park and North Macedonia are in Cardiff.

I can't believe someone broke into my house and stole all of my fruit.

I am peachless!

Have a good day!
