Whether we have any jumps racing to watch today in Britain or not hinges on 8am inspections at both Kempton and Warwick so keep everything crossed!  Wetherby was abandoned a couple of days ago and I think the other meetings today will need a bit of luck on their side to race.  We do not have any runners today so are not that worried what happens but with would be nice to have something to watch this afternoon!

Warwick’s feature is the Classic Chase at 2.55pm and I think Jack Tudor has a very good chance in this aboard Mr Vango.  They were last seen in action over the National Fences finishing second in the Becher Chase and he is 7/2 second favourite for this race.  At Kempton the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase is at 2.40pm.  There are only four runners and Kalif Du Berlais is a very short priced favourite to win for Harry Cobden while the Lanzarote Hurdle follows at 3.17pm and this is a very competitive 16 runner handicap.  Rian Corcoran has picked up a nice outside ride on Goodwin who is about 25/1 in the betting.  With Rian’s claim he will carry a very light weight so I am not sure Rian will have had much to eat over the last 24 hours so I hope he can run well.

Fairyhouse must also pass an inspection to race today but there are two all-weather meetings at Lingfield and Newcastle should all else fail!

Yesterday, both of our horses ran well.  Eton Mes finished fourth for the third time in a row in the novice’s hurdle at Exeter.  I think he has progressed with each of his starts over hurdles and will enjoy stepping up in trip at some point.  Royal Mer ran a cracking race to be second…again!  He did nothing wrong in defeat and it was a good effort.  It was a shame the fences were omitted down the back straight due to the sun and the ground was not as soft as he would have liked but he battled well and deserves to get his head in front next time.  He has recently been acquired by Somerset Racing and I believe there is still a share left in this likeable grey so please get in touch if you would like to know more information!

It is a busy day on the football front with plenty of matches from the FA Cup 3rd round.  There are a couple of all Premiership matches with Everton at home to Sunderland and Newcastle play Bournemouth but I shall be rooting for local side Exeter who go to play the mighty Manchester City! Spurs are at home to Aston Villa at 5.45pm and while I do not know the full TV schedule I am sure there will be several games to watch somehow!  Well done to Wrexham who are already through to the fourth round having beaten Nottingham Forrest last night on penalties, in the words of my match reporter "It was exhilarating, 2-0 up first half.  Then Forrest brought on their big guns for the second half.  Finished 3-3so went to extra time.  Penalties and we won (Wrexham) 4-3!! It was brilliant!!

I am an expert at picking leaves and heating them in water.

It’s my special tea!

Have a great Saturday!
