I hope by the time you are reading this it was a great Saturday on the racing front for Pond House at Newbury and Warwick yesterday!  In case you think it is a bit strange not mentioning it, I pre-write Sunday's story on a Saturday just to give myself one day off!  It is a quieter day on the racing front today with both intended jumps meetings at Exeter and Newcastle having been abandoned.  Exeter was called off before the declaration stage on Friday morning while Newcastle failed its 9am Saturday check.  We were due to be running Eton Mes up at Newcastle but at least they kept everyone informed and called it off in good time.  It is not a huge surprised that some of the meetings are struggling, we recorded our wettest January (month ever in fact) and then we have had over 60mm of rain already this week!  We are coping relatively well here at the yard but you can see why some places our not!

In light of the jumps racing being abandoned, the BHA put on an extra all-weather fixture at Chelmsford today so that is the only action on this side of the Irish sea but there is a jumps card at Naas this afternoon.  They have some good races with the feature being the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at 2.50pm.  Staffordshire Knot is the favourite for the Gordon Elliott team and he has three of the six runner field.

We did have Ben Lilly entered at Larkhill point to point today but he does not run as the ground is plenty soft enough for him at the moment and we will wait for things to try out a little.  It will dry up at some point!  Our amateur jockeys Martin McIntyre, James Shaw and Ashley Dascombe are all riding there today and I shall let you know how they get on tomorrow.  There are plenty of entries and I imagine there will be lots of runners at competitive racing there today with lots being called off as late because of the weather.  The first race is at 12 noon.

There are two Premiership football matches this afternoon with Brighton at home to Crystal Palace at 2pm and the big match at 4.30pm see's Liverpool at home to Manchester City.

The England men's cricketers are in action this morning at 9.30am in the Men's T20 World Cup in India against Nepal so should win.  Snowboarding, Skiing, Luge and figure skating are just some of the events you can watch today from the Winter Olympics in Milan.

I saw a one-legged man at the ATM.

He was checking his balance.

Have a lovely Sunday.
