There are two jumps meetings today at Ludlow and Southwell and the stable has one runner at the latter, Givehimthehonour. He runs in the 2.20pm handicap chase over three miles and Jack Tudor rides. He is one of the outsiders of the field and he does have to bounce back from a poor run last time. Having said that, he does have the past form in the book to suggest that if he does return to form then he is well handicapped. He has only had two runs this season and they were well spaced out because he had a set back at home. He travelled well before stopping quickly last time and we have removed the cheek pieces so that he does not do too much too soon this time. It is the right race for him and if he puts his best foot forwards then he would have an each way chance.
There is a jumps card at Punchestown today and there is one all-weather flat fixture at Kempton this evening.
It is a busy morning ahead for lots of reasons...firstly we have about 40 visitors to Pond House with lots of children coming with their families for a look around the yard organised by Exeter racecourse. They will watch the gallops, watch a horse loose school and swim and have a look around the yard. We will also try and get them on the equicisor to see if there are any aspiring jockeys amongst them! We have declarations and entries to do as per normal and we will also get to find out if Constitution Hill gets a run at Southwell on Friday!
Last night in the football there were wins in the Champions League knockout stages for Real Madrid and and Paris St Germain to name just two. The former match was marred by a racial incident between players and the game was delayed for 10 minutes. I cannot believe this is still happening in this day and age. The action continues this evening with Newcastle away to Qarabag, I am not sure where that team is from! There is also a Premiership match between Wolves and Arsenal which kicks off at 8pm.
It is a crunch day for the Great Britain men's curling team as they are looking to stay in the competition at the Winter Olympics. I saw a bit of their match last night where they lost to Canada and even though it is possible for them to qualify today, they do look up against it. There is plenty more action in lots of events to come throughout the day.
I went to school for magicians but failed the final exam.
They were all trick questions.
Have a good day.
