King Turgeon Runner at Newbury Today
We have two runners over jumps today and one on the flat. Show Your Hand and King Turgeon both run at Newbury with Jack Tudor on board and Green Sky runs on the flat at Southwell and Gina Mangan rides. Show Your Hand makes his racecourse debut in the valuable Goffs Bumper at 3.35pm. There are 20 runners, it is a competitive race and we are a big price. However, we like our little four year old and I think he will outrun his odds. He has been away for two racecourse gallops and gone nicely and has done everything we have asked of him. It is a big ask to run well on debut in this sort of race, it will be like his first day at school, but equally I would not be surprised if he were to put up a bold show. He is not the biggest but shows a good attitude at home and at about 50/1 he might be worth a very small each way interest.
King Turgeon runs in the concluding race of the day at 4.45pm, a handicap chase over three miles. He has just had the two starts this season where he finished sixth over the National fences and then sixth at Cheltenham. He has been due to run a couple times this year but we have decided against running because of the ground. We have been waiting for better ground and he has it today! There are eight runners and we are about 6/1 in the betting. We carry top weight but he is a big athletic horse and so that is not a problem and he is back down to his last winning mark of 133. He has faced some tough assignments since his last win and he will find this easier today and I am hopeful. He is a character and always in great form at home and with the sunshine on his back today, he will love the track and ground and I think he has a good chance.
Green Sky completes our trio of runners this afternoon and she runs in the 5.13pm fillies handicap at Southwell over 1m4f. It looks a tough little race for it's grade but the forecast favourite is now a non-runner and so that has boosted our chances and we are about 6/1 in the market. She ran well on her all-weather debut for us last time at Lingfield and a repeat of that run would see her go close in this. Gina Mangan rode her positively that day and I am sure we will be doing similar today.
As well as jumps racing at Newbury today there is a good card up at Kelso and they also race at Bangor as well. Newcastle flat racing on the all-weather accompanies the meeting at Southwell while in Ireland they have a jumps card at Navan.
Bashful Boy ran another solid race to be fourth at Lingfield yesterday, beaten only three lengths. He was quite slowly away which didn't help but had every chance turning for home and did nothing wrong in defeat. He keeps knocking on the door and deserves to win one of these.
Last night in the football, Manchester United drew away to Bournemouth 2-2. I did not watch the match but hear there were some contentious penalty decisions! Today there are four Premiership matches with the early lunchtime kick off being Brighton v Liverpool at 12.30pm. Everton play Chelsea at 5.30pm while the evening match is Leeds at home to Brentford at 8pm.
Exeter Chiefs are back in Premiership rugby action this afternoon, at home to Sale at 3.05pm.
I'm sorry to hear your uncle was run over by a boat in Venice.

Have a good day!
