There is one jumps meeting today at Stratford but the stable does not have any runners.  The ground is described as good to firm and while there are not lots of runners they don't have bad field sizes and Rian Corcoran goes there for one ride.  There are just two flat meetings today at Hamilton and Ripon while in Ireland they have a flat fixture at Naas with some Group action on the card.  In France they have some good jump racing with the second day of their big weekend with the Grand Steeple Chase de Paris the feature race at 3.05pm British time.  Quite often there are some British and Irish representatives in these big races over there but not in this particular race which is worth over £327,000 to the winner.  Gold Tweet for trainer Gabriel Leenders who used to work here at Pond House looks to have a good chance in this.

A valuable four year old hurdle precedes the big chase and Willie Mullins sends Selma De Vary back to her country of origin to compete in this race at 2.05pm with Paul Townend on board.  The filly finished fourth in the Triumph hurdle and then second at Aintree but looks to have a good chance in this.  There are plenty of other good races on the card which gets underway at 1.22pm and it will all be shown on Sky Sports Racing.

There is point to point racing today at one of my favourite courses, Bratton Down.  This is the first of three meetings at the course from which you have fantastic views over Exmoor.  You usually get some fantastic racing there with some close finishes as there is a nice long run in from the last fence but I just wish they had had some rain to attract more runners.  Fingers crossed they may get some before the meeting their next weekend.  I highly recommend a visit if you have not been there before and there is pony racing action before the first race there today.  

There are six Premiership football matches today with the early kick off being Manchester United against Nottingham Forrest at 12.30pm.  The majority of games kick off at 3pm while it is a crucial match for West Ham who need to win away at Newcastle at 5.30pm.  

The Somerset cricketers are on day three of their country game at home to Sussex and we have the final round of the US PGA Golf Championships from Aronimink.  I apologise as I cannot update you with the latest scores from anything as I have pre-written this and I shall also let you know how Jack got on at Bangor tomorrow!

If my husband and I had a boy, he wants to name him Harley.
