There is one jumps meeting at Worcester this evening and we have two runners, Karnaval Point and Saccary and I am hopeful of a stable double! Karnaval Point makes his stable debut in the 5.32pm handicap chase over 2m4f and he is a horse I like, both from his French form and how he is since arriving. He goes nicely on the gallops and has a lovely nature and attitude. We claimed him after he won at Auteuil last month, that was over 2m2f and he has also won over 2m7f. He is a three time winner in France and I think his form his fairly solid. On what he shows at home his handicap mark looks fair and I think he has a good each way chance. My only negative against him today is the ground and whether it might be a little on the quick side for him. He has form on all sorts of ground but is probably best when it is softer but we have to start somewhere and as long as it is safe he will be fine. Rian Corcoran rides both of our runners this evening with Jack Tudor currently banned.
Saccary runs in the concluding handicap hurdle on the card at 8.41pm over two miles. He has now finished runner up on his last three starts and I think last time at Uttoxeter was the one that got away and he should have won if things and worked out slightly differently. He was only beaten a neck that day and with Rian's five pound claim today I think he has a cracking chance. The course will suit and I see he has been backed into favouritism this evening. There are probably a few in the race we can rule out (dangerous thing to say!) but the Dan Skelton trained PLayful Fox could be the biggest danger. This one unseated in the same race as us last time when holding every chance so I am sure that one won't be too far away but I hope this can be Saccary's first win over hurdles.
There are four flat meetings today at Haydock, Goodwood Bath and Pontefract while in Ireland they have one jumps meeting at Downpatrick.
Our three new recruits from Doncaster sales arrived safely yesterday and while we didn't end up with any further purchases the three new boys look good and are settling in well. They arrived mid morning and we rode them yesterday afternoon and they all behaved which is a good thing! All three are different, in lots of ways! The first is a three year old grey gelding by Logician who is broken but unraced. He is out of a former very good jumps mare La Vecchia Scuola and he is a nice attractive gelding with plenty of scope and he could be anything, the dream starts here! Our second horse is a four year old gelding called Masterius. He is a four year old gelding by Pastorius who has finished second in his only start in an Irish point to point. He is a good looking athletic horse who looks very good value at £30,000. He is looking for an owner so if you would like to know more, please do get in touch! More details and photos about him in due course. Our final recruit is one that has been there, done that and got the t-shirt at a very high level! Asian Master is a nine year old gelding who has been fourth in the Supreme novices hurdle and he has some very good form in the book. Owned and ridden by members of the Costello family since he was a foal, they were sad to see him go but they are delighted he is coming to us as there has always been a close connection between the Pipe and Costello families. Jack Pipe has his eye on this one when he gets his amateur licence!
Vitality Blast cricket returns this evening for the first time in 2026. I am off to watch Somerset play in their first home match against Hampshire and even the weather has come right for me! Somerset are defending champions in this competition and let's hope they can get their title defence off to a good start tonight.
I think it is a great idea to wear two different deodorants, one under each armpit.
But that's just my two scents!
Have a super Friday!
