The stable has six runners this afternoon - four at our local track Taunton and two at Lingfield.  Fortunately it has warmed up again in so there are no problems envisaged for either meeting.  Kilrye, Lucy's Perfect, Street Entertainer and Moose Moran represent the stable at Taunton and the last named makes his debut for the stable this afternoon.  Moose Moran was a 97 rated flat performer at his best for Sir Henry Cecil and he certainly looks like an interesting recruit.

It is the richest day's racing on Taunton's calendar and they deserve to be rewarded with a fantastic afternoon's action - the prize money for the card exceeds £70,000 which is well over double anything else on offer in this country today and a really good effort.  Having said all that, the card at Thurles in Ireland offers double the Taunton prize money, so it just goes to show what a long way we have to go to address the prize money levels on these shores.

Poole_Master_UttoxeterOver at Lingfield we run Poole Master (pictured right), a good winner at Uttoxeter last time out and The Tracey Shuffle.  The Tracey Shuffle won a couple of bumpers with plenty of cut in the ground, and they (whoever they are?!) say that it takes a good one to win a bumper under a penalty - he makes his hurdling debut today under Tom Scudamore.  He is Tom's only mount of the day, so let's hope the journey pays off for him.

Although it was a wet and miserable day on the gallops yesterday we still managed to school a few, including Chartreux who was an unlucky faller on his chasing debut at Hereford when seeming to be well in command.  As you can see from the picture, he jumped very well under Tom Scudamore.  Over on the gallops I managed to get a picture of recent recruit No Secrets as he completed a solo gallop.

I see that it is legendary gambler Terry Ramsden's 60th birthday today.  He was a fearless punter who bought very good handicap hurdler My Dominion from MCP.  There were some amazing stories about Terry's punting days, including how his driver used to have to fill up his car with petrol before they went greyhound racing at Walthamstow in case Terry came out skint!  It's a shame there aren't a few more characters like Terry in the game anymore.
