Ashbrittle was a little disappointing at Wetherby yesterday. I thought David's five year old would win but he finished second. He did not jump the final three flights of hurdles very well at all and this probably cost him the race. He stayed on well all the way to the line however and he looks like he may step up in trip at some stage as remember he was a stayer on the flat. Cucumber Run won for the Henderson team, mind you if you saw the race you know that he jumped violently to the left. I would not want to trust the seven year old to win if they ever tried to run him on a right handed track! The most impressive winner of the day yesterday was Scoglio who won the juvenile hurdle. He is now set to run in the Scottish Triumph hurdle and the trainer Dave Roberts is still waiting to get his full licence!
What a weekend of racing action to look forward to we have. It looks a great card at Cheltenham on Saturday and if all of the entries stand their ground the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial could see the three co favourites, Baby Mix, Sadlers Risk and Grumeti take each other on which would be a fascinating contest. David has still to decide for definite whether Grands Crus will run in the Argento Chase. He is 5/2 favourite for this race but the other possible race he could go for in the Betfred Gold Cup trial at Newbury. If he does happen to run this weekend he could be taking on Captain Chris, Time For Rupert and Diamond Harry. Whichever race he runs in will be extremely tough and exciting. Mr Chow holds an entry at Cheltenham on Saturday. He is the winner of two chases so far this season and was an unlucky faller at Southwell last time. Thankfully he seems none the worse for this and has been schooling well at home since. He is pictured on the gallops below. Whatever your plans this weekend it might be worth changing them and making a trip to Prestbury Park instead! It will be one of the best days racing of the season so far and I can't wait!
Mr Chow
In the football I see they are betting that the Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is 4/7 to get the sack. It must be horrible to have people betting on whether you are going to be sacked from your job or not. Just imagine going into work this morning and one of your mates saying that you are odds on to be sacked. Surely it must affect your performance?!
