Schooling Over Hurdles at Pond House
It is great news today that we have some jumps action to look forward to this afternoon at Ayr. David does not have any runners but it is just good to have some racing back on and fingers crossed the weather does not disrupt the rest of the week too much. I like some of the sarcastic comments about the all-weather racing that have been made. Its nearly all-weather as long as its not snowing, heavy raining or icy! On Saturday at Wolverhampton it looked more like a scene from a christmas card! They managed to run some of the races but in the end they had to call it off half way through, which I think was the sensible decision for all concerned. I see Bryan Smart is having a go about the Kempton meeting that was abandoned yesterday. He said it has cost him two lads expenses overnight and diesel, well in fact it has cost the owners biut I know what he means! I say send the bill to Kempton racecourse and make the tracks pay the bills.
Trainer Brendon Powell says "nearly ninety precent of the time the best option is to call the meeting off sooner rather than later". I agree. I think they should make a cut off time when a decision has to be made either way whether racing is going to be on or off and then this would help take the problem away from the courses. I am lucky that where I live down in Torbay that we have had no snow and I was in fact plaing golf yesterday and we were on the greens, though don't tell anyone!
Back to football. Does it really matter that much who is the captain of Engalnd?! All you have to do is call heads or tails! They are saying that maybe Scott Parker should be captain. He is not even the captain of Spurs and even though he is a great player you obviously can't need that much experience!
What a game at Chelsea yesterday. Both defences look shakey but it was a very entertaining match for the neutral! meanwhile in Scotland Rangers look in trouble. they lost at home to Dundee and only had a crowd of 20,000 at the match. When a big a team as Rangers are in trouble financially it really is time to take stock. There will be several more teams having to pull their money belts in.
