It was another great day for the yard yesterday with a treble at Newbury courtesy of Goulanes, Dream Esteem and Midnight Tuesday. The first two completed a double for jockey Tom Scudamore, while young Tom Bellamy completed the hat-trick for the yard aboard Midnight Tuesday in the (eventful) hands and heels race. We return to the Berkshire venue with two further runners this afternoon, Faasel and War Singer. Tom Scu is reunited with the enigmatic but talented Faasel, who is still capable of a decent level of form at the age of eleven as he demonstrated when winning at Doncaster on his penultimate start. Let's hope the stable's fine run of form continues.

There is a good day's racing ahead with five meetings taking place (four of which are over jumps at Newbury, Kelso, Stratford and Bangor), while on the all-weather we are treated to the Winter Derby. I have to say that I felt a little bit sorry for young amateur jockey George Gorman yesterday as he threw away certain victory in the Hunter Chase aboard Merry Vic. He only had to jump the last to win, but instead went around the fence and was promptly disqualified and handed a fourteen day ban. I wonder if he walked the course with his mother (who also trains the horse)? Remember it was only his second ride under rules...I guess he will learn the hard way.

I am looking forward to the Chelsea v Spurs game this afternoon. The kick-off is at 12.45pm, so you know where I will be at lunch time and what I will be doing! I thought that at odds of around 19/20, Chelsea looked worth a wager. With Norwich also looking worth an investment at 5/6 and Sunderland at 11/10, that is my weekend treble sorted out!

Tiger Woods looks like he is playing to a good standard again...for me though, the question remains, can he put four rounds of good golf together? I don't think so.

Have you ever found yourself shouting at an automated telephone answering machine? I did earlier this week, and it wasn't until after my outburst that I stopped to ask myself why? It's not as if they can answer back!
