Enfant_De_Lune_Sandown

We have two runners this afternoon at Ffos Las, Enfant de Lune and Bathwick Brave who will both be ridden by Tom Scudamore.  Enfant de Lune was successful on his first start for the stable at Sandown but has a couple of disappointing efforts to overcome, while Bathwick Brave makes his debut over fences.

I reckon I have come up with a great concept for a new reality television series.  It would be something along the lines of The Only Way Is Essex or Desperate Scousewives and it would be all about Ladies' Day at Aintree.  It is worth going just to watch the fashions (something I would not say about Royal Ascot!) - I have never seen so many outlandish outfits!  Anyway, once it started raining everybody started heading for the bars which meant that we had front row seats to see all the outfits (or lack of in some cases)!  There is a big fashion show that takes place on Ladies' day and plenty of decent prizes to be won.

I must admit, I do feel a little bit sorry for the guardsmen who have to look after the trophies - they really take some stick from the girls, and yet they have to remain stoney-faced the whole time.  Some of the things the girls were doing with their shiny silver helmets beggars belief...it's amazing they stay on their heads!

Much as I enjoy the coverage that Channel 4 brings to racing, it was a bit poignant that the BBC covered the Grand National for the last time yesterday.  In yesterday's Racing Post there was a picture that really took me back, of David Coleman interviewing John Burke after partnering Rag Trade to victory in 1976.  It shows how old you are when you can remember Mr Teasy Weasy who had some dodgy bars around Soho back in the day!  Anyway, I am sure Channel 4 will do the even justice next year and take the National forward into the future.
