Soulard_Exeter_181011

The stable has two runners this afternoon - Soulard (pictured above) returns to the scene of his most recent triumph as he takes in the very tight looking 2m7 1/2f handicap hurdle at Exeter.  Tom Bellamy is once again in the saddle and takes a very useful 7lbs off his back.  The track has had 7mm of rain overnight and with a little more expected prior to racing, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the official going is eased a little during the day.  Meanwhile, over at Kempton Tom Scudamore takes the ride on Midnight Tuesday who came good last time out at Newbury.

It's the Scottish National this weekend up at Ayr and I see that there is some difference of opinion between bookmakers with regard to our topweight Junior who came to grief at the second fence of the Grand National last weekend.  Some bookmakers have him priced up at 8/1, while others have him as long as 14/1.  Regulation fences make this a very different test to the Aintree spectacular and the bookies have Harry The Viking as the general 6/1 favourite.

I see that it is Roger Stanley's birthday today.  Roger is joint owner of Grands Crus and a real character to boot.  Not only that, he is a mad keen cyclist - I can just imagine him out on his bike in his lycra shorts, it would be quite a sight!  Roger once told me that he had cycled up the Alps - I have played golf with him and I just hope that he cycles a bit quicker than he walks around a golf course!  Happy birthday Roger.

What a great result for Wigan as they won 2-1 against Arsenal last night.  It was a terrible defensive performance from the Gunners who conceded two goals within the first ten minutes.  Wigan now have 34 points and are pulling clear of the bottom three in the Premiership.

Why on earth are they having this trial in Norway?  The lunatic who killed over seventy people last year is getting his day in court.  He is clearly guilty and yet he is going to get even more international publicity over the incident and upset everyone who lost loved ones all over again.  Personally I would have just locked him up - Barnes' legal system gets straight to the point!
