After passing an 8am inspection I am pleased to report that Exeter goes ahead with their meeting this evening, meaning that there are four meetings taking place.  As well as the Devon track, there is also action from Fakenham, Catterick and Southwell.  We have three runners at Exeter's evening meeting - Standing Ovation, Water Garden and The Grey Fox.  The Grey Fox is a nicely bred mare that is making her racecourse debut this evening at the age of seven - the owner is also the breeder and he can be a little tricky.  In the past he has even told David how to train his horses.  I hope The Grey Fox runs well to keep the owner happy, by the way the owner is MCP!

It is only early days, but the jump jockeys championship is certainly looking interesting.  At present Aidan Coleman leads the way with seven winners, ahead of A P McCoy and Tom Scudamore.  I don't know how long he will be able to keep his lead, but if I were Aidan I think that I would take a picture of the table and get it blown up and framed and hung on the wall!

Over on the flat I watched dual champion jockey Paul Hanagan ride the other jockeys to sleep in the 4.20pm race at Kempton.  If you were to watch this race again, you would see exactly why Hanagan is the current champ - he also won the 3.50pm on Manasem.  Good jockeys give everything a ride.

I see that Manchester United football star Wayne Rooney has his first ever runner tomorrow at Chester.  His horse is called Pippy - let's hope that it can cheer Rooney up after the title looks destined to go to Manchester City.  Rooney currently has three horses in training with Tom Dascombe.  Pippy will take on four of his stable companions in the race and the betting should tell you which one works the best at home.

Ronnie O'Sullivan duly won his fourth Snooker World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield yesterday afternoon.  He says that he is now going to take six months off.  When his mind is right, O'Sullivan is unquestionably the best player in the world - the trouble is, his mind isn't always right!  I saw him play a match in Taunton back along and he put in seven century breaks - if he had the dedication of a Davis or Hendry, he would be truly unbeatable.
