Happy Birthday Peter Deal
(Just Hidden from Camera)
with Chester Cup Winner Mamlook

David does not have any runners today but it is a busy day for racing with six meetings on around the country.  We have the flat racing at Newbury, Newmarket, Thirsk and Doncaster and two jumps meetings at Bangor and Uttoxeter.  What surprises me is how quick the ground seems to be drying out everywhere.  Some of the going reports now say good to firm!  After all that rain we have had and talk of floods it seems funny that we have got to this stage of going already although I guess at this time of year things do dry up pretty quickly.  All eyes today will be on the 3.40pm race at Newbury where the Henry Cecil trained superstar Frankel puts is unbeaten credentials on the line.  He has pacemaker Bullet Train also in the line up and Aidan O'Brien brings over a top class miler in Excelebration.  Marco Botti trained this horse last year and Frankel will have to be at the top of his game to win but it looks a fascianting race and I hope the Champ comes out on top as that will be good for racing.

David has three runners tomorrow with Spirit of Barbados and Clever Dick travelling up to Market Rasen and Beattie Green running at Stratford.  I will have more news on these horses tomorrow but I am pleased to say we managed to turn a few horses out this week so they are all out enjoying a pick pf grass and a nice summer holiday.  They would usually have been out slightly earlier but the weather has delayed us a little but its great for them to have a nice break and the summer jobs can begin in the yard!  I will try and get out and about with my camera in the coming days and take a few photos!

I see that it is Peter Deals birthday today, he is 73.  Peter has been a great supporter of Pond House for many years and has had some good horses with MCP and David.  Make A stand won a Champion hurdle for him and David won the Chester cup with Mamlook to name a couple.  I would think that Peter will be at Lords today watching the cricket, England beating the West Indies.  Happy Birthday Peter!  Talking of cricket, it was good to see a great come back from under pressure Engalnd captain Andrew Strauss.  He has been struggling for form for a while so it was good to see him get to 121 not out.  The West Indies attack does not look that strong and are now out to 80/1 to win the first test.

There is some good football action being played today.  West Ham v Blackpool at 3pm and the Bayern Munich v Chelsea in the Champions League final at 7.45pm.  I would like to see a London double although I think the Hammers will win Chelsea look to have a very tough task but fingers crossed!
