All you flat connoisseurs will enjoy today's racing menu - there are no fewer than six meetings on this afternoon and not one of them contains any flat action.  Another week and another opportunity to point out a glaring mistake by the race planning committee - it seems odd to me that on a Saturday afternoon there are no jumps meetings taking place.  Yet tomorrow there are two jumps meetings at Kelso and Fakenham and no flat meetings.  Surely you would have thought that they could have sorted it out better than that?!

fencesFences - sadly we won't be seeing too many of these today!

With all of the recent warm weather that we have been enjoying I don't think that the saunas will be doing a lot of business.  Apparently legendary jockey Lester Piggott used to put the hot air blowers in his car up his trouser leg!  Even on a hot day he would wind his windows up and have the heater on full blast - it would make life very uncomfortable for his passengers, but at least it saved him money on the sauna...trust Lester to come up with that!

At least the West Indies appear to be making a figth of the second Test Match.  They looked to be in real trouble but have recovered well to reach 304-6 - with Marlon Samuels on 107 and skipper Darren Sammy on 88 not out England need to make a quick breakthrough this morning.  I heard a funny statement from one of the commentators, he said "you could have boiled a kettle on his head, he was that steamed up!" - England certainly need to keep their heads this morning.

On the golfing front, what about Rory McIlroy missing the cut in teh BMW Championships at Wentworth.  He shot 79 yesterday and he didn't look himself at all - the normally even temepered Irishman even threw his club away after one bad shot.  Mind you, I suppose he could always enjoy a game of tennis - love all!

I will be watching with interest as England play their first football international under new manager Roy Hodgson against Norway tonight.  Surely Hodgson will want to start his reign with a win and England are a standout 6/5 shot with Hills and that could be worth a flutter.  I will be watching the match on ITV tonight at 7.45pm.
