Weekend Jottings!

There are just two jumps meetings on this afternoon at Perth and Worcester and the stable has runners at both meetings.  Tom Scu heads north (as usual!) and rides Shoegazer at Perth in the big race, The Perth Gold Cup.  It is his only ride of the day, so let's hope that it is a winner otherwise he will have done more than his riding fee in petrol!  It's a £20,000 race so it is obviously extremely competitive but our runner seems to be progressive over fences, having won two of his three starts, so we will all be hoping for the best.  Over at Worcester Paddy Brennan takes the ride aboard Clever Dick (pictured above), having won on him at Taunton last season.  He makes his chasing debut and David looks to have found him a decent opportunity.

Apparently there were quite a few dodgy £20 notes floating around at Epsom last week.  I remember a similar thing happening to me at Newton Abbot a number of years ago now.  I had a few of them passed onto me after a winning bet (yes, I do occasionally back a winner!), although I did the correct thing and took them to my bank.  They of course kept them and I did my money...who says honesty is the best policy?!

I see that the Luxembourg Boxing Federation have voted in favour of supporting the Haye versus Chisora "come dancing" at Upton Park on 14th July.  I am struggling to name a boxer from Luxembourg - that would make a good question for a sports quiz...the only thing I can think of is an old radion station that used to be on longwave!

I had no idea that skulduggery took part in angling, however there was controversy at the World Fishing Championships in Portugal recently.  The English were doing rather welll, leading the tournament when the local angling federation realeased millions of gallons of water from a local reservoir into the river.  The carp went off their feed - it all sounds a bit fishy to me!  I would have told them to sling their hook...boom boom!  Have a nice weekend.
