Fiulin Enjoying a Bath after Exercise!
Today there are five meetings on around the country, four on the flat at York, Sandown, Bath and Lingfield, (Leicester has been abandoned this morning) and hopefully a jump card at Hexham but that has to pass an 8am inspection this morning. It is forecast heavy ground at Sandown and I know a ot of these flat trainers will be praying for some good weather for the next couple of days with Royal Ascot coming up. David has three entries in the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday, the first day of the Royal meeting. Fiulin (Richard Hughes) and Ashbrittle (Paul Hanagan) definitely run while we will have to see if Decoy gets in the race. He needs seven to come out to get in the twenty runner field and at this stage that is looking slightly doubtful but you never know! David is likely to have one other runner at Royal Ascot with War Singer being entered in the 1m2f and 1m4f handicaps on Friday and Saturday and he is likely to go for one of these races. Keep checking back here for more news of the stable runners throughout the week.
In the football last night, what an exciting match it was between England and Sweden, not the best as far as skilful football was concerned but exciting! It was a great result for England winning 3-2 and the manager bringing Theo Walcott on from the bench was a good move. He scored and set up the winner for Danny Welback although I have to say both teams looked second class compared to the Spanish passing game. I thought we gave the ball away far too much but Scott Parker and Glen Johnson were Englands two best players.
What about the rain in the other match in the group at Donetsk last night? It absolutely poured down with rain and was classed as an electrical storm as the ref took the players off the pitch for 50 minutes. To me it looked like a typical English summer day! France beat the Ukraine 2-0 and now head the group on the same number of points as England. My mate tells me that Spain made 500 passes the other night against Ireland. The only way England would make 500 passes is if Rooney was on Master Mind!! Sorry Wayne you are a great footballer!
Meanwhile in the golf at the US Open, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy both missed the cut with Rory finishing on 10 over par. Tiger Woods looks to have some of his old touch back and is playing well.
