Today there are five flat meetings at Doncaster, Folkestone, Musselburgh, Chester and Newmarket.  Some of the ground is given as good to firm and some as heavy which just highlights the randowm weather we are having across the UK at the moment.  They have had some terrible flooding up North and the Newcastle track is under a foot of water and their biggest day of the year with the card featuring the Northumberland Plate on Saturday is under threat.  The runners were at the start for the 4pm raceyesterday when the storm started and the horses were called back to the stables and the meeting was abandoned.  The pictures on the news this morning from that part of the country look terrible and we are lucky that we only had 3mm of rain and some sunshine at Pond House!  There is no jumping action either today or tomorrow with the next being on Sunday at Uttoxeter where David has a few entered so check back here tomorrow for more news of the stable runners.

I see a Betfred customer is owed £400,000 and as yet has not come forward to collect the winnings.  It is the first time since the company was launched in 1999 that such a large amount has been unclaimed – check your pockets! I hope you all subscribe to our text tip service - we had an 18/1 winner yesterday - Amosite in the 2.50pm at Yarmouth!  To Subsrcibe text PIPE to 84010 (Text £1.50 per messgae.  To leave the service text PIPE STOP to 84010).

I cannot think of another sport where a player ranked 100 in the World can beat the world number 2 but what a match in the tennis at Wimbledon last night.  What a great game Rosol played to beat Nadal in five sets.  Rosol was in the zone and probably will never play as well again.  He returned at 95mph.  Nadal had no answer to the inspired Czech.  This is good news for Andy Murry who got through to the next round yesterday as Nadal was in his half of the draw.

No David Beckham in the British Olympic football team, how are we going to sell any shirts?!  Mind you on form how did Beckham really think he could get in the team?  Surely we pick the best players available and he is not one of them.  How do Italy always seem to play well in big football tournaments?  Their manager seemed to get their team well organised.  We have the only Italian who could not get the Engalnd team playing!  It probably would have helped if he could have spoken English!  It was a great performance by Italy last night to beat the Germans 2-1 and they now play Splain in the final on Sunday and that should be a great match.
