Gosh, with only two meetings scheduled for this afternoon, I hope they both beat the weather.  Ayr host a flat card, while we will have three runners over the sticks at Market Rasen.  With Newton Abbot abandoning their Monday meeting, Uttoxeter (Tuesday) unraceable at present due to waterlogging on the track and Worcester (Wednesday) already heavy in places and no other jumps fixtures scheduled for the remainder of the week, it could be the last jump racing that we have for a while.

It seems to me that Richard Hughes is spending more time golfing than racing at present.  The Irishman flew to the Emerald Isle to play at Ballybunion and Waterville and then when Chepstow were forced to abandon their fixture, he stayed in Ireland and played at Killarney.  He then flew home to England and played over here on Tuesday - most of these jockeys are real bandits when it comes to golf and are much better than their handicaps.  The worst two I can think of are Mick Fitzgerald and Carl Llewellyn - if they were horses they would have two stone in hand!

It's men's finals day at Wimbledon and I would like to wish Andy Murray the very best of luck - he is going to need it!  On the strength of his Wimbledon display so far, he has been shortened to win Sports Personality of the Year.  Hills make him a 7/4 chance from 6/1, but I wouldn't be tempted by that - he will need to win the final to stand a chance, especially when you consider that he doesn't seem to have a personality...it would be better to call the award Sports Person of the Year!

I always enjoy a good newspaper headline and liked the one in yesterday's Racing Post about the athletics: "Usain Out To Prove He Hasn't Shot His Bolt!".  Have a good weekend.
