        War Singer on the Gallops

There is a cracking card at Newmarket today which looks very competitive.  The 3.00pm race is the Group One Falmouth stakes and Andre Fabre brings over his top class filly Golden Lilac.  She has already won a couple of Group One races and she looks the star on todays card.  There are five meetings on the flat in total today and we also have action from York, Newbury, Chester and Chepstow (inspection at midday).  David has a runner on the flat at Newbury, War Singer.  He runs in the 4.35pm handicap over 1m2f and we have booked Eddie Ahern to ride.  He is having his first run on the flat in this country but has won five times on the flat in France so it will be interesting to see how he gets on and if he handles the testing ground.  We had another 16mm of rain at Pond House in the last 24 hours and it is still raining at the moment.  Will it ever stop?!

The company that manages several racecourses and is the reason why the trainers boycotted a race at Worcester the other evening, Arena made £4 milliom profit last year.  It would cost them £200,000 to bring all the races up to tariff which is all that anybody wants.  Surely that is not a lot to ask Arena to do so that we don't have anymore walkovers.  I wonder how many owner's make a profit?

A big name from the past is Ron Treloggen who is 57 today.  Remember, he used to ride Double Silk and Ron had a style all of his own.  He made me look stylish and thats all you need to know!  Happy Birthday Ron.

There is a big advert in the paper from Bet365.com.  They are offering the best price on every horse running live on Channel 4 this afternoon.  This offer applies from 10am plus 1/4 odds on all Channel 4 races.  They really are trying to attract the punter and this sounds like a very good offer to me.

I see that some footballers are already moaning about pre season training.  Leicester's Neil Danns says it is the hardest day so far.  Years ago when I used to live in East London the great Bobby Moore used to run on his own before the pre season even started.  I wonder how many modern players do that?  Stay dry and have a good day everyone.
