Today there are five meetings - four on the flat at Catterick, Lingfield, Sandown and Leicester and one jumps card at Worcester.  The stable has a runner in the 2.50pm race, Lahib The Fifth who makes his debut for the yard.  He has had 445 days off since his last run and wears cheekpieces for the first time but David had a winner for the Hush Hush Partnership with a horse with a similar profile last week (Premier Dane).  The ground is currently good (good/firm places) - they had soft places on the track a couple of days ago, so whatever you are backing - at least some of the ground should suit your horse!

I asked you yesterday, who were birthday boy Mark Perrett's Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot winners for Martin?  Well, it was a bit of a trick question as Mark actually won the Stayers' Hurdle and Ascot Stakes on the same horse...Balasani.  Mark certainly had a special rapport with Balasani who was a bit of a character, but he had so much ability you wouldn't mind a stable full of horses like him!  As well as those two big races, he also managed to win a William Hill handicap hurdle at Sandown (again under Mark Perrett) as well as a Rendlesham Hurdle.

With the Olympics soon to start it seems that we have all sorts of troubles.  Planes look like they are going to be delayed at the airport, the trains are having problems and security already have their own well publicised problems, mind you if you are Bradley Wiggins you could always arrive on your bike!  I know from my mates in the east end of London that some of the roads already have lane restrictions in place and the traffic is already extremely slow.  What is it going to be like when the games actually get underway?!

gliders1Still, whichever way you choose to arrive, it has to better than by glider.  There was a near miss on Monday when two of the flying machines collided in mid air, one of them coming down near the Newmarket gallops.  Fortunately nobody was seriously injured, but I ask you, who in their right minds would try to fly a plane without an engine?  Being the brave soul that I am, you wouldn't catch me in one of those things for all of the money in the world!

I see that Mark Walsh hit six 180's in his first round win in the World Matchplay Darts - he looks like Kojak...who loves you baby?  Maybe he could throw lollypops?!
