Laustra Bad
At 7.30am this morning it was already 17c and pretty warm and sticky at Pond House so it promises to be another scorcher but we are not complaining after all this rain! Lahib the Fifth finished fourth at Worcester yesterday on his Pond House debut. He looked to be going well turning into the straight and he ran a good race and you would think he would be a little sharper for the run. This was his first starts in over 400 days and so he showed enough to win a little race over the summer. Today there are six meetings, five on the flat at Sandown, Bath, Epsom, Doncaster and Folkestone plus a jumps card at Uttoxeter. David has runners at Uttoxeter with Home Run having his first run since January. He should appreciate the better ground, as should Laustra Bad. He is a bit of a character but has won his fair share of races over the years and thankfully the handicapper has dropped him a few pounds. Fingers crossed they should run okay.
It was a great starts for our British Womens football team in the Olympics yesterday. They beat New Zealand 1-0 at the Millenium stadium and they should go well in the tournament. Imagine an England team going out to play a game and they show a picture of the Scottish flag, wouldn't we be upset?! North and South Korea are at war with each other and the officials displayed the wrong flat at their opening Olympic womens football match, not a great start. I can't wait for the Olympics to kick off properly tomorrow with the Opening ceremony. If you want a bet in the table tennis. Ladbrokes go 8/11 Jike Zhang and that looks a good price as he is an odds on chance. Her looks different class to the rest of the field. Englands top player Dave DRinkhall is a 1000-1 chance where he probably be a 10,000/1 chance!
