It's a quiet day on the racing front with just a couple of meetings on from Bath and Ffos Las - they are situated relatively close together in the scheme of things...I wonder which genius at race planning thought to put those two meetings on this afternoon?! Why are there not more meetings on a Sunday? It is the one day that most people do not work! What is more, where is the jump racing? Rather than giving the jumps boys the odd week off here and there, why not give them a proper break at the end of the season and then kick off again at Newton Abbot like they did in the old days?
I see that Newmarket are flinging open their doors for an Open Day on 23rd September. It would certainly be worth seeing as the last time they did something like that, it was 15 years ago. It is always interesting to have a look around some of the top flat yards and those participating include Sir Michael Stoute. There will also be a go-karting challenge on the Rowley Mile between trainers Luca Cumani, Roger Varian and Ed Walker and jockeys Ryan Moore, William Buick and Hayley Turner. I would have thought that the jocks would be at a distinct advantage here - from my experience they all drive like lunatics! Add to that, the jockeys will probably enjoy quite a significant weight advantage! It should certainly make for an interesting day and would suggest going along if you are in the area.

I will be wathcing the big match on television this afternoon at 4pm between Reading and Spurs. If Tottenham get beaten, their new young manager could be up against it. The fans will be calling for 'Arry to go back to White Hart Lane - they certainly don't take any prisoners there!

I'm going to have to be more careful when I am sunbathing in my garden! So far I think I have managed to get away with it, but looking at some of those zoom lenses on the cameras these days I reckon they could see over from France! Personally, when it comes to major personalities, if you are out in public you are fair game for a photograph, but if you are in private then it is a different matter. I think the French photographer has boobed and the magazine will probably receive quite a heft fine...and rightly so.
