It is a busy day ahead with five meetings taking place this afternoon.  The action comes form Wincanton, Worcester and Huntingdon over the sticks, while there are a couple of flat fixtures from Chester and Chelmsford City.  David has three runners at Worcester today; Great Tempo, Red Square Revival and Purple 'N Gold, while Lady Of Longstone runs at Wincanton.  Great Tempo contests the 2m4f novices' handicap chase at 2.10pm.  Our five year old has schooled well at home and is ready for his first start over the larger obstacles.  He has to carry top weight of 11-12, but there is no doubting his latent ability, although he had become a touch frustrating over timber.  Hopefully the switch to fences will bring some improvement.  It certainly worked for Red Square Revival (pictured above) who runs in the 2m4f handicap chase at 2.40pm.  He ran six times over fences last season, winning twice and finishing in the frame on a further three occasions.  He is higher in the weights as a consequence but should still go well under Tom Scudamore.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Chester and Wolverhampton and jumps fixtures from Kelso, Fontwell and Newton Abbot.  There are still plenty of holiday makers around in Devon following the Bank Holiday weekend so I would imagine that there will be a decent crowd for the meeting at Newton Abbot this afternoon, especially if the weather remains fair.  David has one runner there today as Dell' Arca (pictured above) runs in the 3m2f handicap chase at 4.55pm.  He proved his stamina for this trip last time at Exeter and this good ground should be right up his street.  He has to defy top weight but looks to have decent claims in a trappy little race.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Exeter, Ludlow and Fakenham and flat fixtures from Thirsk and Brighton.  David has four runners at Exeter this evening; Mrs Miggins, Just Midas, Orchard Thieves and Friday Night Light.  Mrs Miggins runs in the mares' maiden hurdle at 5.50pm.  She finished third in a heavy ground bumper at the course and this better ground and hurdles should see her in a better light.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.  Just Midas and Orchard Thieves both run in the National Hunt novices' hurdle at 6.20pm - Just Midas showed ability when a close fourth in a bumper at the track, while Orchard Thieves ran a good second in an Irish point-to-point in 2016 although he is entitled to improve.  Friday Night Light (pictured above) is our final runner in the 2m7f handicap hurdle and he had some good form last season over shorter trips and shapes as though he is worth a try over this distance.  He has to carry 11-10 but is not without a chance.

It is a Bank Holiday Monday bonanza with six meetings taking place this afternoon.  The action comes on the flat from Windsor, Beverley and Bath, while there are jumps fixtures from Kempton, Warwick and Ayr.  David has one runner at Kempton today as Vaniteux runs in the 2m2f handicap chase at 4.40pm.  Despite top weight of 11-12 he has dropped to a handy mark and this is the easiest race that he has contested in some time.  He gets his ground again today but would need to improve on his most recent couple of efforts.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

           Iniciar runs at Towcester

Today we have three meetings, flat cards at Newmarket and Hamilton plus a jumps card at Towcester.  The big race of the day is the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and Ryan Moore is back from the Kentucky Derby to ride Happily for the O'Brien team.  It looks a great race with plenty of winners in the race as you would expect.  Happily is the favourite at 11/4.  David has two runners at Towcester today, Midnight Magic and Iniciar.  Midnight Magic runs in the 1.35pm, a 3 mile handicap hurdle with David Noonan on board.  He has run okay in some races and if he puts he best foot forward he has each way claims.  He returns from a little break and will appreciate the better ground.  Iniciar carries top weight in the 2.40pm 2m3f handicap hurdle.  He ran on the flat most recently and is very talented but a bit quirky.  Daryl Jacob rides and it is quite a competitive race as there is good prize money on offer.

Today sees the return on the jumps meetings for start of the new season with racing at Uttoxeter this afternoon and Hexham this evening.  There are also flat cards at Newmarket, Goodwood, Wetherby and Doncaster.  The jumps boys holiday is over!  Tom Scu has 4 rides at Uttoxeter, mind you I can't see a winner amongst them!  David does not have any runners today but we do have two at Towcester tomorrow.  It looks a good card at Newmarket with the 2000 Guineas looking an outstanding race.  Aidan O'Brien has the first two in the betting and it looks like the unbeaten Saxon Warrior could be the one.  Ryan Moore is across the pond riding the favourite in the Kentucky Derby, Mendelssohn.  The winner of this race gets £918,512.52.  The odd 52 pence could come in handy!

        Shotavodka runs this evening

There are five meetings today.  Four flat cards at Lingfield, Chepstow, Musselburgh and Newcastle plus a hunter chase card at Cheltenham.  Just look how many runners the hunter chase card at Cheltenham has attracted which is good to see but there seems to be too many professional trainers at Cheltenham.  As I have said many times before, I don't think professional trainers should be allowed runners in these races.  Looking at the card I think I would back Mr Alex Edwards on whatever he is riding.  I know he is leading jockey in the point to point field and he looks to have some good chances tonight.  One of our old Pond House favourites also runs there tonight, Shotvodka.  He was a good second at Southwell last time and fingers crossed he will run well this evening.
