Rathealy - Winner at Warwick
It was great for David to get two winners yesterday, Rathealy at Warwick and Herbert Park at Kempton. Rathealy is only a four year old and despite not being fluent at the last he battled on very well under a great ride from Tom Scu to win. He is entered in the Sussex Champion hurdle at Plumpton on Sunday and he is a previous course winner but we shall just see how he is as the week progresses. Herbert Park loved the step up in trip to 3 miles and won under a nice ride from Kieron Edgar at Kempton. The Darling Boy finished fourth at Chepstow and Saint John Henry fell at Warwick but I am pleased to report he seems none the worse for it and is fine this morning. It is just good to see that the stable appears in good form with the big Aintree meeting coming up.

Herbert Park runs at Kempton
It seems a little strange to me that after a fairly quiet weekend for the National Hunt game we now have three jumps cards today at Warwick, Chepstow and Kempton. Bad luck to all Northern race goers! David has runners at all three meetings. Herbert Park runs at Kempton in the 2.45pm novice hurdle. Kieron Edgar rides and takes off a handy five pounds. He steps up in trip to try 3 miles for the first time today but his previous runs suggest he should appreciate this, especially round a track like Kempton. Although beaten last time, the winner has won again since and on his penultimate run he did beat a subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner! He is a lovely young horse who will be even better next season but fingers crossed he can run well again this afternoon.

Today there are just two meetings taking place with a fixture over the sticks at Ascot and a very competitive flat card from Doncaster. The stable has one runner at each meeting with Unanimite (pictured above) taking part in the 3.05pm race at Ascot - a valuable handicap hurdle worth £25,000. He wasn't beaten at all far in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival despite not having the best of passages and he looks to have claims again under Tom Scudamore. Meanwhile, we have a rare flat runner as Houston Dynimo contests the amateur riders' race at Doncaster and he will be partnered by young Tom Greatrex who claims a handy 7lbs off our topweight's back.

There is a busy day of racing ahead with five meetings taking place this afternoon including jumps cards from Stratford and Uttoxeter and flat action from Doncaster, Chelmsford and Kempton. Doncaster marks the start of the turf flat season and the highlight is the Lincoln handicap at 3.45pm. If you are a regular reader of this column, hopefully you will have been on G M Hopkins at 8/1, all he has to do now is win! The stable has one runner this afternoon, Street Entertainer (pictured above) who contests the competitive handicap hurdle at Stratford. He is partnered by Conor O'Farrell and is a 14/1 chance - it is a tall order, but he did run a very good fourth from this mark at Cheltenham earlier in the season.

Today we have four meetings taking place with jumps cards at Newcastle and Wetherby (so I'm afraid if you are a jumps fan who lives in the south of England you are out of luck), while there are flat fixtures from Lingfield and Wolverhampton. There is only £28,000 on offer across Wetherby's six race card - poor when you consider some of the high class action they do host at the track. Can you believe they have a two runner mares' hunter chase (with a 1/25 favourite)? I guess at least they have had the decency to put it on last so everybody can go home! The stable has no runners this afternoon although Tom Scudamore makes the long trip north for a couple of outside rides - let's hope that he can keep his good run of form going. I know that he has his sights firmly set on riding 150 winners this season and with him currently on the 139 mark with a month of the season left, he looks to have every chance of doing so.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Newbury and Ffos Las and all-weather flat fixtures from Chelmsford and Wolverhampton. We have one runner at each of the National Hunt cards - Sadlers Gold at Newbury and Rathlin Rose at Ffos Las. Rathlin Rose (pictured above) looks as though he will appreciate the return to a softer surface (both wins having come on soft) and he will certainly get it this afternoon after 15mm of rain overnight, the ground is likely to be extremely testing at the Welsh track. Jockey Mr D Noonan reduces his weight to 11-5 and he has every chance of being in the shake-up.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with just one of them a jumps card from our local track at Newton Abbot. The remainder are all on the level with all-weather fixtures from Southwell, Lingfield and Wolverhampton...who on earth thought that was a good idea?! Anyway, Lingfield join the twenty's club as they are offering only £29,000 in prize money across their entire six race card - someone has to be making money out of these fixtures, although I am absolutely certain that it is not the owners! Anyway, onto a track that does things properly - it is great to have Newton Abbot back again with their first fixture of 2015. The stable has one runner there, recent recruit Drumlee Lad who participates in the novices' hurdle. He is the winner of a point-to-point and a maiden hurdle in Ireland so it will be interesting to see how he gets on on his Pond House debut under Tom Scudamore.
