There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Market Rasen, flat fixtures from Lingfield and Sandown and an all-weather action from Wolverhampton. David has two runners at Market Rasen today; Koi Dodville and Morgenstern. Koi Dodville (pictured above) contests the 2m4½f handicap hurdle at 2.40pm. He was a bit below his best last time, but had previously won at Cheltenham and is only 3lbs higher here. He looks like he will appreciate this longer trip and is not out it in what looks a tight little race. Tom Scudamore rides.

The stable's good run of form continued with two winners and a second from our three runners at Huntingdon yesterday evening. Awesomedude posted a good reappearance effort after almost twelve months off the track to bolt up in the 2m maiden hurdle under Tom Scudamore. A multiple winner on the level, he acts well on good ground and looks capable of going on to better things over hurdles. He was well bought by the Value Racing Club and should give the members plenty to shout about over the coming months.

The stable was amongst the winners again yesterday as our only runner, Mr Tambourine Man (pictured above), ran out a convincing winner of the 2m4f handicap hurdle. It absolutely tipped it down before racing and it altered the watered ground to good/soft and that probably helped our son of Galileo, who defied an 8lbs rise for his latest success at Exeter. Although the favourite disappointed, it was a decent little contest with three last time out winners in the field and he is sure to take another hike in the weights for this, but he is clearly in good heart at present and improving at a rate of knots.

Vernon Subutex (pictured above, image property of RacingTV) ran out a good winner of the 2m6½f handicap chase at Stratford yesterday afternoon under Philip Armson on his British debut. He jumped well and stayed on in good style, producing a good performance to concede plenty of weight to the runner-up. Unfortunately, he did finish a little sore, so will probably require a spell on the sidelines, but will be given all the time and attention that he needs.

Bought from Doncaster Sales Last Year
There is just the one jumps meeting today and we have one runner, Vernon Subutex at Stratford. He is making his British debut in the 4.22pm handicap chase over 2m6f with Philip Armson on board. Our five year old has settled in well since coming over from France and he is the winner of seven races from 24 starts in his native country, three over hurdles and four over fences. His last win was over hurdles at Fontainebleau in March and although the quicker ground is a bit of an unknow this afternoon we see no reason why he should not handle it and run okay. There are only five runners in the race but it looks competitive and the Racing Post have Vernon at about 4/1 third best in the betting.

Lady Reset runs at Doncaster Today
Today we have the one runner on the flat, Lady Reset at Doncaster this evening, 6.05pm. She runs in the Fillies handicap over 1m2f and there is some good prize money up for grabs. There are only five runners but they are good ones and there are a couple of three year olds in the line up so it is going to be tough. Three year olds on the flat over the distance currently receive a whopping 15 pounds from their elders which makes things tough for the older horses. We entered on Monday and thought we would keep an eye on how many three year olds were being declared and when there were only two so we decided to take our chance. Our fantastic little mare won five races last summer, two over hurdles and three on the flat, including over course and distance. She is racing off a career high mark today but is in terrific form at home and she always tries 110%. She had a winter break and has come back to run well twice over hurdles, finishing second on both occasions. The horse at the bottom of the weights, the David Simcock trained three year old called Aiming High looks dangerous however and could be tough to beat but we know our mare will do her best and we will see what happens.

I hope not too many of you reading are too superstitious but a little reminder that it is Friday 13th today! It is a busy day on the racing front with lots of meetings but there are none from Pond House today. There are four flat meetings at Newbury, Newmarket, York and Hamilton with a jumps meeting at Aintree this evening. In Ireland they have a meeting on the flat at Leopardstown and they race over the jumps at Kilbeggan. Our stable amateur Martin 'Fly' McIntyre heads to Aintree to ride in the final race on the card, a point to point bumper which looks like a competitive heat. He rides number 1 on the card Broomfields Cave and the Racing Post have him at about 7/1, fifth in the betting. The five year old has won his last two starts in point to points and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. Another interesting contender in the field from our point of view is number 6, Good Boy. He is the winner of his only start to date in a point to point bumper at Sandon. He is of interest in this as he is actually a half brother to our very own Eden Du Houx. He was unsold at the Cheltenham sales last month and he is entered again for Doncaster sales next week. Eden Du Houx was a listed bumper winner for us so if this fella, by Diamond Boy has some of his ability he should run very well in this. The race doesn't jump off until 8.45pm so it will be a late night home for some of these jockeys and horses.
