There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card at Plumpton supported by an all-weather flat card from Newcastle. David has one runner this afternoon as Miss Tynte contests the novices' hurdle at 12.30pm. She has shown plenty of promise in bumpers and shaped nicely on her first start over timber when fourth at Taunton last time out. The ground is going to be bottomless, but if she handles that she could go well. Stable jockey Tom Scudamore is in the saddle. David Noonan is also at the meeting and has picked up a couple of nice outside rides. Meanwhile, there is a very good fixture from Naas in Ireland with a Grade One on the card, while even the bumper is worth £10,500. Why is it that the prize money always seems better overseas?

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with three jumps cards from Chepstow, Sandown and Wincanton as well as all-weather flat fixtures from Kempton and Lingfield. The big meeting of the day is the rescheduled Welsh National card from Chepstow. I know I keep saying it, but I can't believe that it is going ahead without any problems - you will want a horse with plenty of stamina who loves the heavy going this afternoon. David runs Rathlin Rose (pictured above) in the big race - he had some good form last season, notably when winning the two military races at Sandown under Guy Disney. He has a light weight this afternoon, which could prove to be beneficial and there have certainly been worse 33/1 chances. Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon (so long as the jumps card at Wetherby passes an 8.15am inspection). Fortunately for them, none of the Pond House jockeys have any outside rides at the northern track today. The problem with these inspections is that most of the jockeys who live in the south will have already left by the time officials have decided if the meeting will go ahead or not - the matter is compounded when these courses decide to look again (and again) as the day goes on. Should Wetherby get the green light, champion jockey Richard Johnson looks to have a nice book of rides. The all-weather flat cards this afternoon come from Southwell and Kempton where there are no reported problems.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Bangor supported by three all-weather flat cards from Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City...it is just like those at race planning were expecting inclement weather at the beginning of January! There was plenty more rain overnight so if you are thinking of going racing today make sure that you pack your wellies! The courses will need to have the tractors on hand as I can see a few cars getting stuck in the car parks.

There are four meetings scheduled to take place this afternoon and given the inclement weather in the immediate wake of Storm Eleanor, surprisingly there have been no inspections called yet. They race over the sticks at Ludlow and Musselburgh, while there are all-weather cards at Southwell and Wolverhampton. It is bound to be a real slog today if yesterday's meeting at Ayr is anything to go by with some of the races over a minute slower than the standard time. Tom Scudamore had one ride on the card, finishing third - his cut of the prize money probably didn't even cover the cost of the petrol.

There are just two meetings (hopefully) taking place this afternoon. I say hopefully as Ayr have to pass an 8.30am inspection before they can host their jumps card, meanwhile there is also an all-weather flat card from Newcastle. Tom Scu has one outside ride booked at Ayr so I am not sure if he will be wanting the meeting to go ahead or not!

It was a good weekend for the stable with Daklondike winning the Mandarin Chase at Newbury on Saturday, while Queens Cave won the concluding bumper at Uttoxeter. Daklondike proved to be a very useful staying chaser in the making with a brave victory over the 3m2f trip on heavy ground, winning with a little bit in hand. The further he went, the better he looked and he could well turn out to be a National type. Remember, he is only celebrating his sixth birthday today so it was a fabulous performance under a good ride from Tom Scudamore. Meanwhile, Queens Cave (pictured above) was a taking winner of the mares' bumper yesterday and is now unbeaten in an Irish point and a National Hunt flat race - she looks to be a very good prospect and can rate considerably higher.
