Today there are just two meetings, a local jumps card at Exeter plus an all weather flat card at Southwell.  Exeter is subject to an 8am inspection however so please make sure you check before setting off if you are going racing.  David has three runners at Exeter, including two promising bumper runners Vieux Lion Rouge and The Liquidator plus High Ville in the Listed novice hurdle which is sponsored by Bathwick Tyres.  In fact, our yard sponsor Bathwick Tyres sponsor all seven races.  They are great for our sport and put so much into horse racing so if you need any new tyres you know where to go!  Our runner in the final race of the day is The Liquidator.  I am not sure if anyone will remember but MCP used to train a horse with the same name.  I think it was owned by Bob Wheatley of Baron Blakeney fame.  We had a right touch at Newbury one day with him, happy days!  Today's The Liquidator has made a promising start in two bumpers finishing second twice and the last time was at Cheltenham.  We hope he can go one better this afternoon.  Vieux Lion Rouge is another exciting four year old who we are hoping can make it three from three in bumpers in the first division.  Tom Scu rides all of our runners at Exeter.

It was a good across the card double for the yard yesterday with Broadway Buffalo winning at Newcastle and Alderluck winning at Bangor.  Mikey Ennis was on board Alderluck and made up for unseating him last time with a great waiting ride and it was the horses first win since joing Pond House.  Broadway Buffalo bolted up at Newcastle with Tom Scu in the saddle.  He has now won all three of his career starts and that was his debut over hurdles.  It was probably a good novice hurdle and the commentator thought that the first four home in the race were pretty useful.  Our five year olds jumping was little novicey to start with but got better as the race went on and he looks to have a very exciting future.  If you were watching the TV yesterday you may have seen that he is owned by a group of rugby boys including Andyw Powell and Mark Cueto.  They all play for Sale Sharks and indeed it was a great day all round as Sale beat Exeter Cheifs last night and Mark Cueto actually scored is 76th try for his team.  This is a record for the most tries ever scored in the Premiership so it wa a great day all round, well done Mark!

Considering it was David's 40th birthday yesterday, there can have been few more appropriate winners than Shotavodka at Taunton.  Our seven year old ran a lot better than his finishing position would suggest on his seasonal reappearance and with that run under his belt and the drop back in trip suiting, he ran out a brave and impressive winner of the maiden hurdle under Tom Scudamore.  Meanwhile Home Run was far from disgraced as his run of successes came to an end with a second behind Mr Mole in the novices' handicap hurdle - the winner is probably okay.

It looks like being a busy day for the stable this afternoon with five runners at our local track Taunton where the ground is going to ride very testing after the rain and snow that we have endured over the last few weeks.  Shotavodka, Home Run, Qalinas, Standing Ovation and Garryleigh represent the yard today.  The amazing Home Run (pictured above) goes for his sixth consecutive win having started from an initial rating of 89.  Obviously he is going to find life much tougher against better opposition from a mark of 124 so we hope that he can continue to improve.  There are three other meetings taking place this afternoon at Doncaster and Huntingdon over the sticks and on the all-weather flat at Wolverhampton.

Today there are four meetings taking place, two on the all weather at Kempton and Southwell as well as jumps cards at Ludlow and Carlisle (who managed to pass an early morning inspection).  It is good to have racing back at Southwell and to mark the occasion I see they have put up £26,000 for their seven race card - the money is unbelievable, and yes, I am being sarcastic!  The stable has no runners today.

There is more bad weather forecast towards the north of the country, but the good news is that following an early morning inspection the National Hunt card at Market Rasen goes ahead.  Owing to the change in the ground, the stable's only intended runner, Barney Cool does not go at the Lincolnshire track.  There are also meetings from Southwell on the all-weather and another jumps card at Sedgefield.  The bad weather isn't just limited to the north of the country however as there were some quite heavy sleety/snow showers near the yard this morning.

It was another good day for the yard at the weekend with an across-the-card treble at Ffos Las and Wetherby on Saturday.  Top Gamble won a decent looking novices' hurdle in good style at Ffos Las under Conor O'Farrell - he scored by 6 lengths with the jockey easing down through most of the final furlong and he certainly looks to be one with a bright future.  Meanwhile, in the same race I thought that Otterburn put up a nice performance to finish fifth on his first start in over 700 days.  Tanerko Emery wasn't beaten at all far in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, while Heath Hunter kept his unbeaten record intact in the bumper - David certainly has a strong hand in this division this season and I'm sure he can't wait to see a few of them over timber.  Meanwhile, up at Wetherby Goulanes put up a gutsy performance on his chasing debut to get the better of Super Duty under Tom Scu.
