There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, three over the sticks at Huntingdon, Sedgefield and Lingfield as well as a flat card at Wolverhampton. The stable has just the one runner, Broadway Buffalo (pictured above) who participates in the 2.10pm race at Huntingdon. It's a good race with £15,000 in prize money up for grabs and our runner is 1lbs higher than when finishing a close fourth in the ultra competitive Silver Trophy at Chepstow last time. A similar level of form will see him go close under Tom Scudamore.

What a fantastic performance from Standing Ovation to land the Badger Ales Chase at Wincanton on Saturday. David has now won the race three times in the last six years following the successes of Abragante and The Package and our fast improving six year old put up his most impressive performance to date in landing this Listed contest from a mark of 120 under Conor O'Farrell. He is in an amateur riders' race at Cheltenham on Friday and he could run there - I bet Conor (who has been aboard for his four successes) was crying when he heard that news! Of our other runners, I thought that Heath Hunter ran well on his hurdling debut to finish second and he looks a sure-fire future winner to me.

Today we have just two National Hunt meetings to look forward to at Ffos Las where the ground is currently riding heavy and at Market Rasen (good/soft). I would imagine there will be a few non-runners at the Welsh track owing to the going. There will probably also be some impressive winners too as soft ground can tend to exagerate winning margins. The stable has no runners this afternoon.

There is plenty of high class action to look forward to this afternoon with four meetings taking place - three of them are over the sticks at Wincanton, Kelso and Sandown while Doncaster hold the final turf meeting of the season on the level. The stable has three runners at Wincanton; Standing Ovation (pictured above), Heath Hunter and Vazaro Delafayette, while Franklin Roosevelt does duty for the yard at Sandown. Standing Ovation has proven to be a real revelation winning his last three starts, although this afternoon's contest is another big step-up in class. Even so, winning jockey Conor O'Farrell keeps the ride and our six year old only has 10-2 on his back - a big run is expected, although he wouldn't want the rain getting into the ground too much. Meanwhile, Heath Hunter makes his hurdling debut this afternoon and Vazaro Delafayette bids to build on his excellent debut when a close third in a hot looking Cheltenham bumper.

What an amazing day at Towcester yesterday as A P McCoy recorded his incredible 4,000th success with victory aboard Mountain Tunes. How he managed to get this one home in front I will never know, but it illustrates perfectly why he has ridden 4,000 winners - nobody else could have won on it. I have known A P a long time and spent a lot of time with him at Pond House - you could not hope to meet a more professional sportsman or a nicer chap...he would help anyone out and nothing was ever too much trouble. One thing I did always struggle to get my head around though - how could he be the best jockey of all time, yet be such a lousy golfer and such a bad judge of a football team?! I am only joking of course...in years to come people will ask how he managed to ride so many winners - it is a total that I don't think will ever be beaten.

We would like to be among the first to congratulate Tony McCoy on reaching the amazing 4,000 winner landmark in a quite extraordinary career. The milestone was achieved when he gave Mountain Tunes a stupendous ride to claim a last gasp victory at Towcester this afternoon.
We are delighted to have been a part of A P’s remarkable success story and we still vividly remember his first winner for the stable when successful aboard Crosula at Hereford on 1st June 1995. This was the first of an incredible 1,154 winners for Martin, the last of which was Paro at Taunton on 24th April 2006. Since taking over at the helm of Pond House David has continued to supply A P with a steady stream of winners (62 at the time of writing), meaning that between them they have supplied the champ with 1,216 winners in total (or 30.4% of his career successes!).

How impressive was Doctor Harper at Exeter yesterday?! Our five year old made a facile winning debut over timber in the novices' hurdle and while it may not have been the best race in the world, he did it in style and looks sure to be able to hold his own in better company. He is the latest in a seemingly long line of nice young horses that David has at the yard at present.
