There is some good jumps race action to look forward to this week as well as Glorious Goodwood. It is the Galway Festival over in Ireland and if you ever get the chance to go I recommend a visit! David is sending three runners across the Irish sea with Street Entertainer taking part in the Galway hurdle on Thursday and Matuhi and recent Market Rasen winner Qulinton lining up in the Galway Plate on Wednesday. At home there is racing at Uttoxeter tomorrow, Worcester and Perth on Tuesday, Perth again on Wednesday, Stratford on Thursday and Bangor on Friday. Keep checking back here and in David's Blog for news of our runners this week.

What a race to look forward to today, a Group 1 at Ascot. We have Rewilding, Workforce and St Nicholas Abbey in the field and it looks a mouth watering contest. It is a great way to start to the week with Glorious Goodwood to look forward to as well. Flat racing at its very best. Sit back, relax and enjoy everybody! There is no jumping action his weekend but David has one runner on the flat this evening at Salisbury. Reset City runs in the 8.10pm and she steps up in distance after making a pleasing debut effort for the yard last time out at Leicester. She missed all of last season so it was great to see her run well on her comeback and we have have Richard Hughes in the saddle this evening so fingers crossed she will run well again tonight.

It's a shame that Madonna will not be riding in the charity race at Goodwood next week - what a great attraction she would have been to racegoers. Eventer Daisy Trayford had been coaching the material girl but will now ride in her place owing to Madonna's other commitments. The thing that amazes me is that you have this potentially huge draw for racing, and most people in the industry didn't know anything about it! Emma Spencer will be competing in the same event and she looks like by far the most capable jockey in the field. It's all in a good cause (Great Ormonde Street Hostpital in Lodon) so hopefully they will get a good response.

Happy Birthday to two of our owners, Gino Paletta and Wayne Clifford. According to the Racing Post Gino is 54 - I'm not sure if that is English time or Italian time! Anyway, Gino kindly looks after myself and David when we stay for the Grand National meeting at Aintree and I do mean looks after us. He is married to an angel called Jeanette (and she must be to put up with Gino)! Happy birthday Gino...54 - who are you kidding?! Our stable sponsor, Wayne of Bathwick Tyres also celebrates his birthday today and it would be great if Bathwick Man could give him a birthday winner at Uttoxeter today. Wayne is a normal person and very sensible...

I think that Jimmy Lindley is being a little harsh when he says that apart from Frankie Dettori, Ryan Moore and Richard Hughes, we have the worst crop of jockeys that there has ever been. I am sure that current champion Paul Hanagan would be none too pleased to hear that...I also happen to believe that Kieren Fallon can still ride a bit. Could it be that Jimmy is living in the past? I often find myself waxing lyrical to my son Lester about footballers like Pele and the West Ham players who won England the World Cup (!), Bobby Moore, Hurst and Peters - of course, today's footballers are every bit as good - they are fitter and look after themselves better (when they are not hanging out in night clubs)!

I see that it is Hadden Frost's 21st birthday today. Hadden is a lovely lad and a really good jockey to boot, but I cannot help but think that he should have instead turned his attention to rally driving instead (Johnny Farrelly could be his navigator). I will never forget the day the pair of them took us home from the races at Cheltenham - it was the scariest experience that I ever had...one of them was at the wheel eating a steak and kidney pie while holding a cup of coffee in his other hand whilst driving at high speed only a few feet behind the car in front. The other was in command of the horn as they were beeping for the other unsuspecting road users to get out of the way! Anyway, many happy returns Hadden...I can't quite believe that you have made it this far!

What a great day for the yard on Saturday with Qulinton winning the Listed Summer Plate Chase at Market Rasen. Our seven year old won by nineteen lengths and now looks as though he will be heading for the Galway Plate, for which he is as short as 8/1. His owners are real racing enthusiasts, so the Irish had better be prepared as there will be some celebration over there were he to follow-up! I know I keep singing the praises of our young conditional jockey Conor O'Farrell, but he is looking more the finshed article every time I see him ride.
