There are just two meetings today with jumps fixtures from Carlisle and Huntingdon. Even so, it is still a busy one for the Pond House team with a runner at both fixtures. Abracadabra Sivola makes the long trip to Carlisle for the 3m2f handicap chase, while Mister Drifter runs in the 3m1f handicap hurdle at Huntingdon.  Long journeys are the order of the day, so let's hope that the horses run well.

There is the prospect of a cracking day's racing ahead with five meetings taking place this afternoon.  There are flat cards from Newmarket and Newcastle, while there is jumping action from Ascot, Wetherby and Ayr.  David has three runners at Wetherby today; Daklondike, Eamon An Cnoic and Vieux Lion Rouge (pictured above) who contests what looks like a thrilling Charlie Hall Chase.

Startchitect (pictured above) was a good winner for the stable on his seasonal reappearance yesterday at Stratford.  Carrying topweight, he came away to win in good style and looks set to enjoy another good season.  A race like the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham later in the month could be on the cards, especially considering the stable's excellent record in the race.  Meanwhile, Kalifourchon also looked to be in the process of running a big race when he dived at the fourth last and parted company with Tom Scudamore - hopefully his confidence will not have been dented and he appears well capable of winning over fences.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Lingfield and Chelmsford City as well as a couple of jumps fixtures from Sedgefield and Stratford.  David has three runners at Stratford; Starchitect, Midnight Magic and Kalifourchon.  For the second season running Starchitect (pictured above) ran well at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals at the end of last season and he makes his reappearance today in the 2m3½f handicap chase.  He has a mark of 140 over fences (150 over timber), seems to go on any ground and looks to hold sound claims.  Midnight Magic contests the novices' hurdle at 3.20pm but would need to improve on what he has shown so far to figure - David Noonan is in the saddle.  Our final runner is Kalifourchon who runs in the 2m6½f handicap chase.  All four of his wins have come on good ground or faster so the prevailing going should suit, he has won from higher marks over hurdles and could surprise a few people with a clean round of jumping under Tom Scu.

David enjoyed a nice winner at Chepstow yesterday afternoon when Saint John Henry made a successful chasing debut in the 3m2f novices' limited handicap chase under top weight, staying on in dour fashion up the straight.  He is only small but he can certainly jump and the only worrying moment was a stumble well after the fence in the back straight.  David, Scu and owner Bryan Drew all looked delighted.  Meanwhile, Ramses de Teillee posted another creditable effort when runner-up in the confined handicap hurdle trying to concede 6lbs to the winner so all in all it was a good day for the stable.  Tom Scudamore went on to ride a treble at the meeting.

I thought that Dell' Arca ran a good race at Cheltenham on Saturday to finish a close fourth in the Pertemps Qualifier.  He was giving weight to the three that finished in front of him and saw the trip out well, staying on in determined fashion.  The trouble is that he runs so many solid races like this that he never gets any respite from the handicapper.  Let's hope Mr Nasty doesn't do anything silly!  Vaniteux ran with credit on his first start for the stable, finishing close behind the minor placings - he looks as though he could do with coming down a few pounds from his current lofty rating of 158.  Katkeau picked up a bit of prize money in the veteran's race at Aintree yesterday, while Aero Majestic was also not discredited in fifth in the novices' hurdle.  I thought all four from the weekend performed well and should be winning races before too long.
