There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket and Kempton as well as jumps cards from Worcester and Fontwell. David has one runner this afternoon as Herbert Park (pictured above) participates in the 4.05pm race at Worcester, a 2m7f handicap hurdle. It is a decent race with £10,000 in prize money up for grabs. The jury is out on Herbert Park - after a very promising novices' campaign in 2015 he was disappointing last season. If he can recapture his best there is no doubt that he can go very well under Tom Scudamore.

It was good to see David back among the winners yesterday afternoon. Unanimité ran out a facile winner of the staying handicap hurdle at Plumpton yesterday afternoon under Daryl Jacob. Ridden more prominently than of late he never looked to be in any trouble, although his task was arguably made much easier following the fall of main market rival Kamool who was sadly fatally injured. He was David's first runner for a few days so it was certainly nice to be back with a winner. He has three more runners at Exeter this afternoon.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Pontefract and Windsor as well as a jumps fixture from Plumpton. David has a runner this afternoon as Unanimite contests the 4.30pm race at Plumpton, a 3m1f handicap hurdle. He has to shoulder top weight of 11-12 but he ran creditably over a similar trip last time out and looks to have decent claims under regular rider Daryl Jacob. The Richard Johnson ridden Kamool looks to be the one we have to beat.

There are only two meetings taking place this afternoon but at least there is a little balance with a flat fixture from Newcastle and a jumps card from Kempton. Sadly Kempton has attracted just 45 runners across their seven race card and I am sure the good/firm ground has had something to do with that. This just isn't the sort of ground you expect at this time of year and I am sure that many of the National Hunt trainers are reluctant to run their horses on that sort of surface. It is a pity as Kempton have put up some good prize money with races worth £30,000 and £20,000. David does not have any runners today.

There is plenty of action to look forward to this afternoon with six meetings taking place on these shores. There are flat fixtures from Ascot, Catterick and Wolverhampton, while there are also three jumps cards from Ffos Las, Stratford and Market Rasen. The big meeting of the day of course is Champions Day from Ascot which marks the last day of the flat season and what a way to sign off! There is over £3 million in prize money up for grabs across the meeting with four Group One's and a Group Two on the six race card. Aidan O'Brien has three in the Champion Stakes with Ryan Moore aboard the filly Seventh Heaven. It could be a good day for the O'Brien team who are strongly represented in all the races, especially with the likes of Order Of St George and Minding.

This afternoon there are five meetings taking place with flat action from Haydock, Redcar and Newcastle as well as jumps action from Fakenham and Wincanton. There are small fields at Wincanton this afternoon and I can only imagine that the trainers are concerned about running their winter jumpers on a quickish surface (currently good/firm, firm in places). Stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads off to Fakenham for a couple of long-priced outside rides. I wonder how he advertises his car when he wants to sell it? 6 months old, 100,000 miles on the clock?!

It's a dreary start to the day, but there are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton and Chelmsford City and jumps action from Carlisle and Uttoxeter. David has no runners today, although I see that stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up a couple of rides at Carlisle including Renenden for his younger brother Michael and he looks to have decent prospects.
