This afternoon there are five meetings taking place with flat cards from Goodwood, Epsom, Nottingham and Ffos Las as well as a jumps card from Stratford.  The stable has no runners today although Tom Scudamore has picked up a couple of outside rides at Southwell.  Looking at the weather, it was not quite Glorious Goodwood yesterday, more like Ghastly Goodwood!  It was absolutely chucking it down and with 35mm of rain hitting the track the ground quickly turned soft and there was not one winning favourite on the card.  The first race was slower than standard by over 25 seconds - that tells you all you need to know.  At least they should be blessed with some better weather today.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood, Redcar, Sandown and Leicester while there is a jumps fixture from Perth.  I hope a few of you followed me yesterday as I was quite keen on Stradivarius for the Goodwood Cup and he duly won at odds of 6/1.  I was well pleased, especially as I had had a bit on early at 10's...lovely jubbly!  Meanwhile, the best of our runners at Worcester yesterday was Gabrial The Great who was beaten only 1/2 length in the handicap chase having been headed close home - this was a very good effort trying to concede 16lbs to the winner, the trouble is the handicapper is sure to have noticed.  Magie du Ma was fourth in the beginners' chase although she was arguably unlucky to not finish runner-up, a bad mistake at the last costing her momentum and she lost two places close home.

Gabrial the Great runs at Worcester

It is another busy day with five meetings in the UK, flat cards at Goodwood, Beverley and Yarmouth plus jumps cards at Perth and Worcester.  There is of course day two of the Galway Festival as well.  David has six runners at Worcester this evening, Magie Du Ma, Gabrial the Great, Purple N Gold, Kalifourchon, Lady of Longstone and Juste Pour Nous.  Magie Du Ma runs in the first race, the 5.50pm Beginners chase over 2m7f.  Our four year old filly has won two good hurdle races in France but has yet to show that form in this country.  She made an okay debut over fences at Market Rasen last time jumping well but ultimately she was beaten a long way.  She steps up in trip tonight which could be interesting but it is quite a competitive little race despite there only being five runners.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Ayr, Windsor and Wolverhampton while there is a local jumps meeting from Newton Abbot.  David runs Celestial Path (pictured above) in the 3.45pm race at Newton Abbot - it is a 2m1f handicap hurdle.  He was a good horse on the level, finishing third in a Racing Post Trophy and fifth in a 2,000 Guineas and he seems to be getting the hang of things over hurdles.  His best run over timber was last time out at Worcester where he finished a close third and he starts off in handicaps from a mark of 109 - he is expected to go well under Tom Scudamore.

There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Pontefract and a jumps card from Uttoxeter.  David has one runner today; Lady Of Longstone who contests the 2m7 1/2f handicap hurdle at 3.45pm.  Michael Heard is in the saddle and he claims a handy 5lbs off her back bringing her weight down to only 10-3.  She wouldn't want any more rain, although if it stays away she could run well in what looks like a competitive race.

It is a busy day with seven meetings taking place this afternoon, but can you believe it?  Not one of them is over jumps!  The action comes from Chester, Lingfield, Newcastle, Newmarket, Salisbury and York.  The big race of the day is the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes from Ascot at 3.35pm.  It is a Group One contest over 1m4f with over £500,000 in prize money.  The John Gosden trained filly Enable has been all the rage in the markets in the lead-up to the race and the English and Irish Oaks heroine looks to be the one they all have to beat in receipt of her age and sex allowance.  Frankie Dettori is in the saddle and it would be great to seem him back with a big winner following persistent niggles with his injured shoulder.

Today there are six meetings, flat cards at Ascot, Thirsk, York, Newmarket and Chepstow plus a jumps card at Uttoxeter.  Racing has made the front pages of the National newspapers again for all the wrong reasons!  It is hard to believe that you can run the wrong horse in a race these days but that is what happened at Yarmouth yesterday.  A 50/1 chance won the opening two year old race but the horse that took part was actually a three year old!  How can the trainer or stable person not know the difference between the two horses?! I don't believe there was any skulduggery going on but I do find it rather unbelievable.  I guarantee that MCP nor David would ever get two horses mixed up before saddling them.  MCP said even I wouldn't do that!  One bookmaker paid out £400 on the wrong 50/1 winner but I don't know why it took so long for the the stewards to announce the mistake?  The race should have been void.
