Another glorious day and another day without any jump racing. There are no fewer than six meetings taking place this afternoon but there is not a National Hunt fixture to be seen! Today's action comes from Newmarket, York, Ascot, Musselburgh, Carlisle and Chepstow. There is another good card from Newmarket for day two of their July Cup meeting - the highlight is the Group One Falmouth Stakes and it looks as though the prize is going back to Ireland courtesy of Roly Poly who is partnered by Ryan Moore. I bet there are a few jockeys who would like to ride at Ascot today, but the trouble is that it is an afternoon card (the same as Newmarket).

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Newmarket, Carlisle, Doncaster, Epsom and Newbury. Sadly, it is another blank day if you are a fan of the jumps. Even so, David has a runner today as Tobacco Road contests thr 1m5f handicap at Newbury at 8.05pm. He has to shoulder top weight of 10-1 and will need to improve on his last couple of starts to figure, although he ran well three starts back when a narrow runner-up at Chelmsford City. Oisin Murphy is in the saddle. There are sixteen runners and it looks to be a wide-open contest.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon and all of the action comes on the level with fixtures from Yarmouth, Catterick, Lingfield, Kempton and Bath. David has a runner on the all-weather this evening as Vincent's Forever (pictured above) contests the 1m3f handicap at 8.25pm. Our four year old has shown some fair form over hurdles without winning yet, but his last run on the flat yielded a win on this track in August 2016 and he runs from a 2lbs higher mark this evening. It looks like a very open race and Adam Kirby is in the saddle. Meanwhile, over at Lingfield, I see that they are offering a paltry £30,000 for their seven race card.

This afternoon there are four meetings taking place with flat cards from Pontefract, Wolverhampton and Brighton while there is a jumps fixture from Uttoxeter. David has one runner today as Lady Of Longstone contests the 2m4f mares' handicap hurdle. She is set to carry 11-12 less regular rider Michael Heard's 5lbs claim. She is attractively weighted on the best of her form but she has been disappointing of late. The Post make her a 10/1 chance and if all eight runners stand their ground she could have each-way claims.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ayr, Ripon and Windsor as well as a jumps card from Worcester. David has two runners at Worcester; Three Star General and Chic Theatre. Three Star General (pictured above) contests the 3.35pm race, a 2m4f brush hurdle qualifier. He won on this track on good ground last time out by 4 1/2 lengths and the runner-up has franked the form by winning subsequently and he looks to have a good chance of following-up. Chic Theatre goes in the 2m handicap hurdle at 4.40pm. He is not badly handicapped on the best of his form although he can be a bit in and out. Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners today.

There are two meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Ayr and a jumps fixture from Market Rasen. David has two runners this afternoon as Kalifourchon contests the conditional jockey's handicap hurdle at 1.50pm at Market Rasen. He makes his first appearance for 242 days but has gone well fresh in the past and he will be partnered by David Noonan. It is a tight little handicap but we are not without a chance. Meanwhile, good French juvenile hurdler Magie du Ma makes her debut over fences in the 2m3f novices' chase at 3.30pm. Our four year old filly gets an age and sex allowance and with a clear round of jumping she would have a good chance under Tom Scudamore.

There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with all of the action coming on the flat from Sandown, Haydock, Leicester, Beverley, Carlisle and Nottingham. I know we are into the core flat season now, but it still beggars belief as far as I am concerned that there is not a jumps meeting taking place on a Saturday. Anyway, there is some great racing to look forward to nevertheless with the big race of the day being the Group 1 Coral Eclipse Stakes from Sandown over 1m2f. Aidan O'Brien only has a couple of runners which is a bit of a surprise, even so one of them is Cliffs Of Moher who was a narrow runner-up in the Epsom Derby and this looks to be his trip.
